Default how many miles is to many

I have been thinking about a C5 Z06, I like them a lot better than the c6 mainly due to the body style. I found a car that looks amazing but it has more miles than I would care for, but the car appears to be in amazing shape. The car in question has right around 63000 miles on it. I just worry about it loosing a lot of value in the next 5 years or so as milage could easily reach 80k+. Mechanically I am not really worried about the car. Here is a link to the car, your opinions please.

"2002 CHEVROLET CORVETTE Z06 62,400 MILES

CAR IS FLAWLESS INSIDE AND OUT, RUNS, DRIVES, STARTS, AND STOPS EXCELLENT.

NO ISSUES OF ANY KIND IN ANYWAY.

NO PAINTWORK, NO ACCIDENTS, GARAGE KEPT AND METICULOUSLY MAINTAINED.

POWER EVERYTHING, HEADS UP DISPLAY, FACTORY FLOOR MATS, AND KEYLESS ENTRY REMOTE, OWNERS MANUAL.

CAR HAS ALWAYS BEEN ADULT OWNED AND DRIVEN, CAR IS STOCK WITH THE EXCEPTION OF LONG TUBE HEADERS, HIGH FLOW CATS, AND X-PIPE.

3 OWNERS NO ACCIDENTS, NO PAINTWORK, NO ISSUES, CLEAN AND LEIN FREE TITLE, CLEAN CARFAX."

63K miles is nothing for these cars, if well taken care of, which, it "appears" the car you are looking at has been. How much are they asking for it? 20-21K or so would be a good deal for that car IMO.

it's at 17k right now (ebay) I did find another car at a dealership with under 14k on it for under $24,000 which I am wondering if it's a typo.

Some people have good luck with purchasing cars on ebay, I personally never would do it. Re: the car at the dealership... It probably isn't a typo - just because a car has super low miles doesn't mean it's in mint condition. Miles are definitely something to consider, but it's not the "tell all" indicator of a car's condition.

This is very true but it looks to be in really good condition. I tend to get caught up in the ultra low milage thing but I guess in reality a car that never gets driven could be a headache.

Seems a little odd however, I did read about another forum member buying a Mill Yellow with like 6k miles on the clock and paid $24-25k so its definitely possible.

Once the car gets over 10 years, mileage is not very important unless its an under 10k museum piece. The milestones as far as mileage tend to be >10k super low, >50k low. After that its>100k and Under 170k. Super low mileage cars tend to have more problems. The 02 seems to be a very average Z06. If mileage is a big issue, buy a C6. If investment is your game, I'd consider an 04 Z06.

I just bought a 02Z that has 135K I'm amazed how well it held up it's like driving a 30-40K mile car.

I bought this one as well as another off ebay this year, both were very nice cars with more miles than the average corvette owner would buy.

I happen to like hi mile cars, most not all, are testaments to the care they received.

I would buy a high mile one owner car before I would buy a low mile 2,3 or 5 owner car, the original owner takes better care of his investment because he is the one that paid the big money for the car.

No paintwork, except they have painted the wheels and the rear break ducts, which I agree as posted above they are hideous!.

Really like the black/red interior, sometimes I wish my torch red had the 2 toned interior.

Car seems very solid and 62k miles is not above what I would consider, although like others have stated I wouldn't pay a premium for the car.

Good Luck.

You're worried about losing value on a 2002 car.

It's already lost it. The minute you get the keys it'll lose more. + or - 10k miles will make no difference. Add 5 years to the age and it'll be the same whether it is 40 or 60 or 80. At this age it's not how many miles the car has, but rather how well maintained it is.

Niiice i too started my awd life in the dsm world (98 Talon 2GB) then made my way up to the evo world. I miss the evo for everyday drive and functionality. Although my Z its more fun and still gets better mpg ...

Personally, I look for C5 Z06's in the 20-30K range. Why? Seals, gaskets, etc. plus price.

A car under 10K is nice, but unless in a climate controlled environment could have issues with seals and gaskets. Will definitely need tires and unless fluids changed regularly, will need a complete end to end flush.

The main thing is CONDITION. How well cared for? Is it a garaged or weather car?

62K is not too much at the price they are asking. These cars will easily go over 100K reliably.

If you want to drop a new motor in after 100K (not saying it is necessary), I would look at the GM performance crate LS3 525 HP.

Not trying to be insulting or rude, but your worried about what appears to be a nice Z06 with 63,000 mi. on it, Dude, drive it like you stole it !! Enjoy the car, not future depreciation. :

I was all hung up on mileage when I bought mine. Looking back I would NOT worry about the mileage. Got my 2002 with 17000 miles, now have 68,xxx and it looks and drives now as it did when I first purchased it.

This car appears well kept. 62,xxx miles is nothing. I would not worry about depreciation, it's 12 years old and counting.

IF the cars condition suits your specs, and the car is well kept I would not hesitate based on mileage if the price was to your liking.
