Default Z06 bike rack solution!!

After trading in my CTS-V on another Z06, I realized I wasnt going to be able to fit my bicycle in it, lol. Found these suction cup mounts from SeaSucker that work awesome! They take less than 2min to install/uninstall, including mounting/dismounting the bike to them. The suction cups have little pumps on them to secure them tightly, and trust me, theyre TIGHT! like, wide open throttle through the end of second gear tight....

I bought the seasucker Talon model. Got it for $218 on amazon. Much more satisfactory than putting a trailer hitch on my car....

Interesting, can't say I've seen a bike mounted on the front of a car before.

FYI Size XL bikes fit in Z06/frc no problem. Pop off the wheels, lower seat if needed, slide it in. I wrap the whole thing in a sheet to protect paint.

I tried to get it to fit just removing the front wheel and couldnt get the forks/handle bars to fit in. I transport it pretty regularly, like every other day or so. Didnt want to dismantle/adjust it and put it back together that often.

Id never seen one mounted on the front either until about two weeks ago, I saw an S-class mercedes with a bike mounted just like I have mine. Stopped and asked the guy about the mount, and you see what that led to, lol

Keep us informed as how well the Leo's reaction.

Any thing on the front, that would block out the line of sight....doesn't make a bit of sense to me.

I'll race ya in total time to get it in/on the car Cool solution though!

Curious what'll be the opinion of the local LEO's. some places are real strict about 'blocking the forward view' or some such. So I've heard anyway.

It actually doesnt block much visibility. All you see is the forks. The back tire is high enough up on the windshield that you dont even see it, and crankset sits right behind the rear view mirror, haha! obviously that wouldnt be the case with different size/style bikes, but mine fits pretty well.

If I get any trouble from LEOs, Ill move it to the rear. It can fit there, but would block the trunk from opening. Not a huge problem. Ill try it out on the rear next time.

A friend of mine uses those with his g35 coupe. More secure than most roof racks honestly.
Nice bike, by the way. Now all you need are some real pedals

Yeah.. I'm thinking that might be illegal in terms of blocking visibility.

I am with Pete. I can't see that being legal as it would tend to block visibility.

That may be more of a perception, but perception is reality. With my luck they would give me a ticket.

Why not back window and trunk? Or back of roof and trunk?

What is wrong with not being able to open the trunk while you are driving.....you put everything in your trunk before taking off and remove the bike from your trunk when you arrive.....sure beats the hell out of not being able to see where you are going. Just my worthless opinion.

I wouldn't want you driving anywhere near me with that setup.

Take a photo or 2 from inside the driver's seat, I bet it's not nearly as bad as people are assuming. Looks like most of the bike is up in the air, not blocking the road at all.

It's not just the view. That thing will probably go airborne one of these days.

easiest way to do it is install a hitch and use a hitch based bike carrier. what you're doing is risky. those suction cups work...until it's cold..or they get old

Geez, tough crowd...

For all of you talking about blocked vision, if it really blocked any significant amount of my view I wouldn't have ever done it in the first place. It really doesn't block hardly any at all. I'll take a pic next time for all of you skeptics.

I also went this route rather than a hitch because I simply don't want a trailer hitch on my Z06. Sorry, they look stupid and can't be easily removed when I'm finished using it for the day.

These also aren't just some lick-and-stick ****** suction cups. They actually have vacuum pumps on them and are ridiculously strong. I also live in Ft Lauderdale, so I highly doubt it's going to get cold enough for four 6" vacuum pumped suction cups to come loose because of a 20lb road bike. Let's get real, It's not like I have a mattress mounted sideways like a sail.

Here's a link to the manufacturers page for this specific model. https://www.seasucker.com/shop/1187/

Wow, that's an interesting bike mount. Can't say that I have ever seen a bike mounted that way. Why not one of those mounts that secure to the trunk lid and the bike hangs off the back? Yours looks like you're fleeing a hit and run accident.

Ive seen something similar on a 70's Camaro. The guy used the rear window and passenger rear quarter/fender. In your case it would be the trunk lid and rear window.

Default Scary

I always think of possible worst case scenario; in this case an accident. The body panels flex somewhat and pop, off comes the bike and flies off somewhere. Ever have 20# hit you at 60 MPH? Chances are it could take someone's head off. I'd secure it what I would consider "properly" (tie-down).
Never mind visibility, paint issues...
