After a lot of looking I have just about decided to change out my stock wheels for CCW.
Trying to decide between the SP500 & 505A.
Planning to go with 18X9.5 front with 265/35-18 and 18X10.5 rear with 295/35-18. Staying with 18 rears as I have new 18 inch tires.
Wondering if it is better to go with 1 inch lip or 2 inch lip for the front.
Anyone running this combo with either wheel please post some pics. and comments on them
Looking at polished wheels. Are they clear coated, and if not how hard a they to keep clean?

I would get the 2" lip front 3" lip rear unless you plan on running big brakes... I have c6z brakes and had my 505a's cut to clear them but in order to do that you lose an inch of lip on each wheel so mine are 1" front and 2" rear and you also lose 1/2" of diameter on the front wheels (9.5" instead of the normal 10")... it still looks good but the deeper lip does look better to me so it all depends on your tastes and what you plan to do... you can't go wrong with either design... I think an 18/19 or 19/19 would look better though, if you are spending that much on a new set of wheels I wouldn't let those new 18" tires keep me from getting what I really wanted, plus you could probably just sell the old wheels/tires anyway... John will not clear a bare wheel because they tend to look cloudy and just not so great and yes they are a pain to keep clean

I have the Classics with same size tires but my wheels are a 1/2" wider f&r with no problems. Speak to John about this. Mine are polished. They do require some maintenance but they use good quality aluminum so you can go awhile between polishing sessions.

Years ago I ran the CCW SP500's... Loved em!!! You cannot go wrong with either...

So you have 18 inch all around? Do you have any pics you could post?
Looks like I will go with the 2 inch lip all around as I have the stock brakes.

I like ccw as they will allow you to buy one wheel if you happen to damage one or want a pair for different size if you change your mind. At least that how it was a few years ago.

I went with 18x10.5 and 19x11.5 SP500 I had mine powdercoated from CCW instead of the polish. I did not want the up keep of keeping them polished. I'm glad i went this way because these wheels are so easy to clean.

Run the 3" in the rear...trust me on this. It's a world of difference of looks imo.

Also...they are a pain in the *** to keep clean. I usually polish mine once a year. Don't attempt to drive in rain unless you have spare towels with you. lol

what's involved in cleaning them? What products do you clean them with?

I don't drive mine as much as everyone else here so that keeps the washing to a minimum.

But I use Sonax for a pre soak/clean, then follow it up with the washing solution I used on the car then rinse. A wheel brush really helps out to get behind the spokes.

Polishing, I usually take the wheels off and use a mothers powerball on a drill with mothers aluminum polish. When I finish, I put a coat of sealant on it. I've tried a couple and both have seemed pretty good. One was opti, the other I can't remember though.

I bought these local then sold them a month later because mine is a DD and too much work to keep clean. LOVE the look though. I only paid 1300 for them with tires and sold them a month later for $2000 which was still a great deal with great tires

They are a pain to keep clean, especially if you ever drive the car while it's wet out. You also have to constantly pay attention to what you're wiping/drying them with when you clean them because you'll end up putting micro scratches/swirls on them, causing a cloudy look. All of these scratches can be polished out to look new again, but it takes some elbow grease.

With that being said, the sp500 and sp505 are still some of the best looking wheels for the C5. They look like they're made for the C5

My advice....

Sell the rear 18" tires, and get a rear 19" setup.

18" rear tires in 295/35/18 are getting hard to find.
If you go with a 19" rear and use 305/30/19 there are TONS of options.

beautiful! I think the sp500 look a little better on a c5 over a c6. I am considering the sp551's on my 05. What do you think of those? Spokes are a little thicker with a crease in the middle of the spoke.
