265/40-17's or 275/40-17's?
I just bought a 12,800 mile Electron Blue '02 Z06 today that still has the original 12 year old tires.
I am going to order some new tires tomorrow and see that the Bridgestone RE760 is the only tire at Tirerack in the OEM size.
I have read some threads on this subject and see that many use a 275/40-17 front with the 295 rear.
I do have Continental DW tires on my M3 Convertible and on my daily driver '13 Mustang, and they are great tires for the money. I see that they are available in a 275.
Am I OK to use a 275/40 front on my newly acquired Z06? Any negatives with doing this?

yes.
I'v been running that setup and it works very well. But I'm thinking that I will go with the 255's for the front with my next set.

Yes. You will be fine with the 275/295 setup. I have those tires in that setup and it's fine.
And personally I wouldn't run anything under a 275. The wider tires just look so much better IMO.

I run Conti DW 275F/295R without issues. Conti doesnt make a OEM size Matchin Extreme Contact DW in a 265 (atleast they didnt when i bought mine.), ALOT more options for matching tires in a 275/295 setup.

I had Continental DW 275/295 on my car when i bought it it was fine no rubbing or any issues
I installed Bridgestone RE760 265/295 really is not much of a difference the DW's do handle a "little" better but are more of a harsh ride and LOUD, i'm very pleased with the RE760's there fine for me i'm not into autocross so the quieter smoother ride is a plus for me car still handles well on the street I still take on/off ramps well over the posted limit

For me it's about balance, the 275s are fine and have worked well but the 255s are with in a few millimeters in width and will have a better sidewall angle giving (me) a better feel in steering, and bring back a more neutral balance in handling. (again my preference)

problem with the 255's is no real protection for the rim since the lip will be more exposed I personally dont like that to be honest the 265 is not much better but it is a little

I'll mount them along with alignment Monday.
