Sounds like a lack of street racing is what kept him in the wrong gear.

I'll street race at any given point. It's fun and dangerous! It's called SRT!

HAHA, very interesting comments. Lets not have any fun with our awesome cars on the street. Very pointless to own a Z if you drive it and cant get on it. Congrats on the kill stroker, always good to have a little fun now and then.

Or the simple fact that last summer I spent 11K replacing the short block and having my TT repaired and I didn't want to hammer the motor.

i was thinking it might have had something to do with your gearing, i know what you mean I blew about $6k on my trans diff and clutch i babied it for 500 miles then hit the streets looking for victims

wait for it......

People who street race them are using about the same amount of the car's ability as people who put them in car shows. Very little. And the car is about equally suited to each task. That is that the car is only marginally good at either one and there are better choices for each task for the money than a C5Z06. So I find it ironic that you would call owning the car as a collector car and driving it reasonably on the street to be, "very pointless" when you yourself do not use the car to its potential doing what is was built to do.

OR you didn't have to drop it any lower because you knew he didn't have much anyway... I've played around with people like that plenty of times

So you were going 65mph on a race track in 5th or 6th gear before downshifting for this race why? And the C5Z06 is a slug in 4th gear at 65mph. A properly driven C7 should beat it easily.

Nice Kill!! I have not had a chance to run a C7 yet. Actually, most folks get scared to run when I open the exhaust.

ok lets try and put this some what back on track!

I'm not saying that what i did was right (street racing) it is illegal so it makes it wrong, yes I do play around on the street but its not in 5pm traffic. if traffic is light and there is room to play and a car next to me is ready to run then i'm ***** out not that it makes it ok but at lease i have respect for the safety of others, i'd sooner let off or not even run then put some else's life in danger for the sake of a run its not that serious for me! for what its worth I have a few friends that have some badazz cars but i never mess with them since there to "hardcore" with street racing witch I dont go for

I understand how this upsets some of you but think your post could have been more general instead of an attack on me i'm not the ring leader or the only one that does this it happens all over the world not just my area!
