Holy Smoke - Porsche Cayenne as Fast as a Z06??
Is it conceivable that a Porsche Cayenne SUV is as or nearly as fast from a start as a stock 2002 Z06 ??

Because I was nearly embarrassed today , off road of course . First time he caught me off guard and it wasn't pretty. Second time I was on it, it was pretty close but I had him all the way to 50 before I shut down.

All the way to 50? That's like what, 3-4 seconds, with no gear shifts?
That really isn't a race. The Cayenne turbo is a fast SUV (not to mention expensive as hell), I wouldn't sweat it.

I had a jeep srt8 and from a dig i could take anyone, then once the speed got up there the jeep becomes a brick. Same with the porsche cayenne, awd plus v8 twin turbo will be a beast at low speeds

I guess that there are a number of cars/SUV/EVs now that will give a 13+ year old Z car a run for it. I know for a fact that my wife's Audi B8 S4 will.

A 2015 Cayenne turbo has 520hp but is 4,817lbs, thus 9.26lb per hp. A 2004 Z06 is only 7.70lb per hp. It shouldn't even be a race from a dig, other than the AWD advantage of the Cayenne. However with some sticky drag radials the Z is gone! The problem I experience even with my 1 year old BFG Rivals with a 200 compound rating is I can't get the tires to stick in 1st or 2nd unless they are really hot. A Toyota Camry could be me off the line with my Eagle F1s before the BFGs. LOL

This is what we used to call a "light to light" race situation. A street tired Corvette is at a disadvantage to many AWD vehicles below 60. Mine doesn't hook without pedaling it for much higher speeds.

Are you talking from a dig? I really like S4's but I wouldn't sweat one when I was stock. They are slower in every category I can think of.

I've spun my tires at 60+mph, so traction below highway speeds is certainly a limiting factor for head-to-head racing in these cars
As for drag radials: I didn't buy this car for digs, I bought it for corners, so I won't be running drag radials on the street

I believe it. I have an S, non-turbo, with the 8 speed paddle shift with the sport suspension, sport exhaust, etc., and I haven't met anyone on the road who wanted to play yet that beat it.
These are fast take-off's from light to light or the open road. The acceleration is incredible.
I've embarrassed quite a few Mustang owners. I haven't had the experience of a Vette yet, lol.
I don't race like a wild man or anything. It's just when I pull out and they get on it I get on it right with them until I pass and then they know they're finished.

Thanks All !
I will tell you the first light the Cayenne had me because I totally underestimated the little SUV.
The second light , I nailed it and had him all the way to 50MPH, but he was right on my taillights.
I am willing to bet though had it been 0-100PMH the Z06 would have toasted that German Soccer Mom-mobile

Unless your ready, the automatic tranny is always going to have the advantage in a short race. A camry V6 jumped me by more than a car length from a light. Once I realized he was into it and got on it I was by him. With the six speed you have to prepare to launch.

These C5Zs simply have light weight tail ends and w/o sticky tires you can't get the rear to squat and stick. It's a problem in 2nd gear too. You have to learn how to feather the clutch and ease into the throttle and not hammer the shift into 2nd. It's very frustrating knowing the power is there to whip 95% of the cars on the road, but not being able to get the power down. It's true most of us bought these cars for carving corners more than drag race launches. The Mustang aftermarket guys have figured out how to produce performance suspension parts which make them squat and hook from the line. I'm pretty sure my n/a'd 305hp 1997 Cobra would have beat my C5Z to 50mph. After that it would be all over but man that car would hook on drag radials. I had Maximum Motorsports adjustable lower control arms and panhard bar which caused that rear to plant on the pavement. Add a pair of warmed up Nitto drag radials and I could lay a pair of 315 wide rubber down the road all while getting to 60mph in about 5 seconds. Not bad for a little 4.6L quad cam engine. They just got nothing after 60 w/o a power adder.
