Default Owning a Corvette Z06

It's good to be back owning a Corvette again. This is my 4th Vette. The first two were a 72 and 73. Mine was the 72 and the 73 was my wife's. The third Vette was a 2000 Coupe with some motor and suspension modifications. Now I have a 2004 Z06 Z16 option. I am planning to autocross the car in SCCA "AS". With time I switched to the dark side (Porsche), but am very pleased to be back into a Vette. Can't beat the sound of the V-8,

The tires are the original Good Years. Hoping the tire manufacturer's will bring out their new 200 thread wear soon. I's like to keep the 17 and 18 rims. Most likely the tire manufacturers size won't allow me to do so. Time will tell. My 2000 had CCW wheels 9" fronts and 11" rears (width). If I have to buy new wheels CCW will be on my list unless I can find a used set. I am guessing that I will end up with (18x9.5 fronts and 18x10.5 rears).

Just ordered new plugs and wires and tail light seals. Next on the list will be to change the brake fluid, clutch fluid, water in the radiator, and possibly change the transmission and rear axle fluid. The car is 10 years old with only 13,300 miles. If anyone has any suggestions as what else should be upgraded due to age and not mileage please feel free to make any suggestions.

I am also contemplating doing the muffler bypass. If anyone knows of someone who is qualified to do TI welding the Philadelphia area please let me know.

Well that's about it for now. Glad to be communicating with forum again.

Pretty sure you can say good-bye to AS if you do that. You're changing BOTH width and diameter.

Muffler bypass mod would do it too.

13.4 WHEELS
Any type wheel may be used provided it complies with the following:
A. It is the same width as standard and as installed it does not have an
offset more than ±7.00 mm (±0.275”) from a standard wheel for the car.
The resultant change in track dimensions is allowed.
B. Wheel (rim) diameter may be increased or decreased 1” from the standard
part.
Looks like you can get away with 18x9.5 fronts and 18x10.5 rears.

Pictures. Congrats. I just picked up a 1 owner 19,000 mile Z06. Change the clutch fluid today. Took about 10 minutes. After having a 96 vert auto and a 00 vert 6 speed the Z06 was my next choice. Searched for about 6 months to find a low mileage 1 owner. Mine also has the original Goodyear F1's. Just bought a set of Bridgestone potenza re 760 sports in oe size. On back order. Will let you know how the are when I get them. My car will be used a weekend toy and car shows. No track days. Congrats again.

A Stock in SCCA allows you to change wheel dia +/- 1 inch so the 18x9,5 fronts and 18x10.5 are allowed. Wheel width must not change.

Congrats. Front end frame sliders are good to have to protect on obnoxious speed bumps, buy an super easy to install LMC5 module (google it) so you never get the dreaded locked up column lock issue. Check battery fluid levels twice yearly. (add distilled water if needed) Shorty antenna. These are bottom feeders, so using a compressor with a pic blow out the radiator every few months from underneath. Nitto NT05's are a nice option for sticky. (NT05R's too) Lowering it a tad on stock bolts makes it look better and lowers your CG without going so low you have no travel. (Have to get an alignment after!!!) Do a good street/track alignment. 7.5 Castor, F -1.3 0 toe, R -.9 -1/16" Toe. Install a CAGS if not done already. (gets rid of the stupid 1-4 shift) A C6 Shifter is a direct bolt in, is shorter and angled back a tad making it more comfortable. And the **** looks great. (do need to get an aftermarket boot or mod the stock one) Get some decent slotted rotors with ceramic pads.

Got mine two years ago with 17K and the stock goodyears. The tires looked great but were hard and slippery! Change them ASAP!!!

Also consider valve springs. Not a huge issue on 2004 but worth noting.

Thanks for the help. Put the items on my to do list. I lowered my 2000 and had a good autocross alignment done and corner balanced. My only regret was the car was lowered the max on the stock bolts. I had to be to careful driving the car. If I do lower this car it won't be much maybe 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch. I agree that the lowered look is nice.

You mentioned that the C6 shifter is slightly angled back. I am short and was wondering if the angle back if it would be uncomfortable shifting. I have to see if I can see a car with the C6 shifter to see how far back it's angled.

Its not angled back much and everyone says its more comfortable to shift with. Love mine! Here is a pic of mine, sorry for the size!! (need a wire tire to keep the boot above the bolt)
