Default Good Buy? / Service History. 2001 Z06

Wondering what everyone's thoughts were on a car I am looking at buying. It is a 2001 Z06 with 77K miles. It has a clean car fax with 3 owners and the most recent owner has been DD the car for the last 6 years.

It has all new brakes, tires, and shocks. The car looks to be in above average condition.

I have the seller down to $16,000 on the car. I really was wanting a 02-04 but this seems like the best buy I can find.

Also if anyone can run GM service history report for me it would be appreciated. I will PM you the vin.

Thanks in advance.

Sounds very fair especially with new tires.

Sounds like it was well taken care of.

Well, based on this it seems expensive. While what is actually available rules the day, stuff that is listed hasn't sold yet.

I didn't shop 2001s since I didn't think they got discounted enough against 02-04 cars, but if the price is right...

I purchased a 2001 zo6 with 42K miles, newer tires(800 miles on them) and new wheels for $19K. I called a GM service dept with the VIN and they gave me the service history. Steering wheel lock recall was done along with no major repairs and clean carfax. Be aware that some 2001's burn oil, like mine. If you take it easy you might only need to add a quart between changes, but if you drive like me (120mph on expressways and 0-60 in 4.5? seconds) then you add a quart every 1000 miles.

if cylinder leakdown is really good and the overall condition is very good that's priced about right. records don't really mean too much since some cars may have issues early on and others very few. new tires is a perk if they are a tire you like, but

1. the whole cooling system should be replaced or should have been. if the water pump is OE it will die at anytime. hoses are also in need of replacement, radiator is a maybe

2. fuel filter, wires, plugs, fluids, all due

3. column bypass, check to see if the wheel turns with no key in ignition

besides that it should be fairly solid if the owner kept up on everything
