Default New here and anyone know this car?

Hi,

New guy here. Coming from the Viper world. (Still have it, btw. 1997 GTS) Anyway, always wanted a C5 Z06 and found one I am really interested in. I was hoping someone would know it. It looks like a good deal: MTI 427 LS2, G1 cam, Kooks headers, Fast 90 intake, etc...

I am concerned because they claim 562 rwhp and I know the G1 cam, at least from my research, is not a big cam. What do you guys think?

Thanks!

I bought a 2001 Z06 from Toy Barn...it was a Quicksilver also with black Classics. They told me that they traded for another Z06 when delivering mine. They were good to deal with...always felt like my purchase was important to them even though they have much higher priced cars.

Who are you working with there?

ZDeckich-

Pewter- MTI is no longer in the business of performance services, or so I have been told.

Concour- I have been dealing with Matt. They have been very helpful so far. I just want to know what I am getting.

Will they let you talk with PO? Mine came with a lot of documentation and extra parts...I talked with the PO. They told me that the PO on this car bought it from them (Carfax shows it too) and I believe traded it back in for a Porsche if it helps. If your not local and you buy, get them to include delivery with their guy...he owns a 2002 Z06 and did a good job going over the car with me.

I'd buy it at that price... that's solid from a dealer, as long as it's sorted

Nice. First Viper I've seen sporting Forgestar F14's. Nice ride.

That looks like a nice Z. Good luck.

I am going to attempt to talk to the previous owner. I am not local. I am 3.5 hours away, but I am planning on driving up Saturday to look at it.

To me, 562rwhp sounds totally legit.

I'm running basically the same cam with only slightly more exhaust duration... With a stock LS7 intake I pulled 580rwhp.

How should the drivability be, specifically in low rpm? How does the LS7 intake compare to a Fast 90 intake? Idk much about Vettes.

Drivability is great.. Yours will he a bit choppier since its on a 113LSA vs mine on a 117 I think.

My stock LS7 intake I'm pretty sure flows worse than a Fast 90..

Do you know what heads are on there?

To me it sounds like a solid build with no red flags.

I don't know for sure about the heads. Probably 243s ported and polished?

I'm just questioning the heads because the chambers would have needed to be enlarged with 243 heads for the bigger bore.

Looks like a nice car with nice mods but IMHO it is a bit overpriced.
If everything checks out I would offer around 24k and pay no more than 25k for it. From what I have seen in the past of MTI builds some of them were "oil burners", so be sure to keep an eye out for that.
MTI has been out of business for quite a while and there is good reason for that! "Caveat Emptor"
