Default c5z dripping small amt of oil on floor

Hello all -

My 2004 stock c5z with 29k miles has been dripping a small puddle of oil on the floor and it just started happening a day ago. I put a piece of cardboard under the car and when I looked this morning it confirmed something is dripping.

Is this normal to drip a little bit every once in a while?

My 2000 z28 LS1 Camaro has never once dripped oil and it has 86k miles

Mine has a small drip every once in a while. Back of the engine, probably rear main on mine. I've been under it, sprayed with brake cleaner and only spot I find oil after a few drives is the rear. 2003 with 27K miles. Very small leak. I'll address when I change the clutch.

Did the car sit for a long time w/o being driven? Or have you changed the oil lately? Don't mean to be captain obvious but be sure the oil filter is on right and tight and that the drain plug is too. If car sat a long time then it could be a gasket dried out and is now seeping. I had that happen to a Mustang I bought many years ago. Oil pan, front seal, and rear seal all began leaking when I started driving it after a few weeks.

Have this same issue with my car that I bought a few weeks ago. When we looked at it we noticed the oil pan was wet. In my case, I think the oil pan gasket needs to be changed, but I have not dug into it yet.

Oh...2004 C5z, 34K miles.

Car gets driven probably 4/7 days a week. I bought it off an older gentlemen who didn't seem to drive it much but that was a year ago at this point. With me the car does not sit very often

I'd clean the underside well and then determine exactly where it is leaking. Until you know where it is coming from, you just don't know whether to be worried. You may have a badly seated oil filter, for example, or something much worse.

may want to check the oil pressure unit behind the intake manifold as well. I think those are prone to leak

Could be one of a number of things... Get under it and check.

Yup, get under it. Rule out the oil filter and drain plug. And if neither of those, see where it's coming from...

Next time you pull it in the garage, pull it in on ramps and leave it on the ramps. Or if you can jack it up and put something under all 4 tires so it's level as it was level sitting on the ground. Put a clean piece of cardboard underneath it and the next morning, see if there is a drip and without moving anything, get underneath it and look up from the drip spot...may need a flashlight.

mine dripped a little on the passenger side near the back of the block near bell housing.. I cleaned it all up, then gently tightened all of the upper and oil pan bolts and seems to be clean now.. might try snugging the upper oil pan bolts up and giving a good cleaning.

some of the Batwing pans are 2 piece so if you have that snug all of them up.
