C&D test, curb weight 4469lbs......

http://www.caranddriver.com/dodge/ch...rt-srt-hellcat

Did you really think adding more motor, brakes, wheels, tires etc would make it lighter? Dodge needs to discover high strength steels, aluminum, composites etc....then maybe they'll lose a few pounds....

New Z06 will run the Hellcat a hell of a lot better in the quarter mile than the Hellcat will run the Z06 on a road course or braking for that matter

Apples/oranges... the Z06 has half the seats at 33% more cost, with a completely different mission

Both are awesome

I'm currently shopping for a BMW 328D, is this the section I post in to ask people about feedback for those cars as well?

Thats exactly my point but people pointing out the 1/4 run. The vette is and never has been designed as a quarter mile car. The Hellcat is a one trick performance pony nothing more nothing less. Not taking anything away form the vehicle, it is a hell of a car, but why the comparasion is continually made is beyond me!!

Dodge/Fiat/MB, etc. has gotten a lot of use from what's essentially a 15 year old MB E320. Cheaper and faster than an AMG. When it comes to the Hellcat's ability to race on a road course, the wife and kids might want to bail. So what; it's cool.

GET A NEW C7!

The Hellcat is just not practical as a DD. Yes, it is a monster, has a very usable back seat, and is fast as all get out in a straight line. However:

1. Gas mileage sucks!

2. Tires are about 20K and that's it. And they are going to cost upwards of 1.5K.

3. Brakes are not going to last more than 20K.

If I wanted a good muscle car as a daily driver, I would look more at the SRT8. Much more affordable to keep on the road at much less of a price.

But your and your wife's decision. This is just how I feel. If the gas mileage and replacement parts are not an issue, GO FOR IT.. Sure it would be a blast to drive! Could be a collectible one day, but there again as a DD not going to hold value as well as the low mileage ones.
1. no ones buys a car like this for gas mileage. same with a c7 vette. if you want gas mileage get the v6 model.

2. any car with 707hp is going to go through tires. are vette tires really any cheaper to complain about this?

3. brakes are dirt cheap and easy todo.

$59k/707hp with a warranty is a hell of a deal. its hard to compare that price to a c7

You will find great Hellcat information in the C7Z06 forum. They are loving the Hellcat, it maybe 700+ pounds heavier, but the C7 owners love the Mopar beast.

can someone explain to me how 707 hp at 4450 lbs can beat a 3500lb c7 zo6 at 650 hp??? power to weight ratio is everything in a quarter mile and its going to take a lot more than 57 hp to make up for 1000lbs I have a a&a equipped 98 c5 with 615 to the wheels and would love to run one at the track

I think many are overstating the drag induced by the aero down force, specifically in the 1/4 mile. Aero factors only come into play at higher mph and in the 1/4 mile this is a very short period of time. Weight on the other hand is always present.

Looked at base car last night! Interior is actually pretty nice, seat seem comfortable but not what the real thing will have. But I'm going to have a problem pulling the trigger on ordering a car that I can't really see first hand...that kind of sucks!

It sure does

Which "base car" did you look at? Base V6 with the cloth seats?
