Trying to understand why you decided to post this in a C5 Z06 section? Are you comparing the two? Are you thinking of trading your C5 Z06 in for one? Did you race one in your C5 Z06?
I'm currently shopping for a BMW 328D, is this the section I post in to ask people about feedback for those cars as well?

It's a heavy fat pig of a car, that goes like stink, is good looking and a comfortable dd with what appears to be impressive 1/4 mile times and does ok at a road course as well, though it seriously needs more tire and won't get the same mpg's as a Prius.
Does that help?

A buddy of mine drove one recently at the track. Said it was a hoot to drive! But when the turns came, he said it wasn't very fun, felt very heavy. Just fun stepping on the go pedal in a straight line. He said it sounded awesome as well. He also drove a new C7 Z06. That maybe the reason he said he didn't like the handling of the hellcat, because he drove the C7 first.

It weighs close to 4400lbs, so expect to replace often tires, brakes, and then bushings and bearings and shocks. All that weight takes a toll, if you ever owned a Minivan or SUV you'd understand that. The engine is magic no doubt, think how much nicer it be if it were 500-800lbs lighter.....

It is a great car n they look bad *** too but be careful what u getting into bro. That car comes w two sets of keys one red n one black, the black keep the engine @ 500hp n the red take u all the way to the 700hp n that's when some of the new owners get in trouble. Too much hp's n no driving skill. Good luck on your purchase n post some pics if you get it.

it is a dodge and they have always been fast in the day but cheaply built, same now in my opinion. an impressive car but anyone can stuff a big motor and run fast but for 20-25k more you can get a real bad *** car in straight line and corners, can you say new z06. not to knock your wife but why waste a car like that on DD, unless your wife is unlike most I have met it would be a waste, but your money so do what you like and who cars what others think. for me, I am glad my wife likes her avalon and lets me have my 3 corvettes

I say get it if I was in a position to have a fast DD in addition to the Z or if my wife was into such things, the Charger SRT8 and Hellcat would definitely make the list, especially if I had kids

If I could have one in addition to my Z06, I probably would well
GET A NEW C7!
The Hellcat is just not practical as a DD. Yes, it is a monster, has a very usable back seat, and is fast as all get out in a straight line. However:
1. Gas mileage sucks!
2. Tires are about 20K and that's it. And they are going to cost upwards of 1.5K.
3. Brakes are not going to last more than 20K.
If I wanted a good muscle car as a daily driver, I would look more at the SRT8. Much more affordable to keep on the road at much less of a price.
But your and your wife's decision. This is just how I feel. If the gas mileage and replacement parts are not an issue, GO FOR IT.. Sure it would be a blast to drive! Could be a collectible one day, but there again as a DD not going to hold value as well as the low mileage ones.
