dripping coolant on floor 04z w/ 30k miles
My 04z is dripping varying amounts of coolant on the floor w/ only 30k miles.
I looked as best as i could and it seems to be leaking onto the leaf spring, and dripping down where the passenger side leaf spring bushing is. I'm 90% sure this is coolant, it has a slight red color to it and is on the passenger side. Coolant level has not fallen enough for me to be sure tho. Hard to tell where the leak is truly coming from..
*~how much is a water pump replacement?
*how difficult is it to replace the water pump? Could I do it myself?
*is this a common issue?
*any other clues I should look for?
any advice is appreciated
thanks

common on ten year old cars. probably the waterpump. coolant should be orange. a very good time to change the entire coolant system really. rubber rots, plastic gets brittle. anyway, here are your part numbers and a rough cost. how much of this you do is up to you. the pump and that $24 GM hose are common leak points. there are aftermarket versions of that $24 dealer hose but i don't know the part numbers off hand
Ac delco 20889 radiator $188.16
Ac delco water pump 251-744 $177.61
Ac delco water pump inlet w/ stat 15-11057 $29.30
Ac delco 18021L hose $27.52
Ac delco 24388L hose $25.35
Ac delco 24458L hose $14.59
GM hose 10229491 $24
Gates 18127 $12.62
Gates 5/8” heater hose {runs small} 2ft section
GM coolant tank 10430189 $69.95
amazon is one of the best GM dealers out there price wise. you can order most all of this through them. also buy the 2ft section of 5/8" hose local, look for some that measures 9/16, the brand often varies, you simply want the smallest 5/8" hose you can find. the actual GM hose is 9/16 and very difficult to come by when you can find it, it also lists for $15 a foot when you can
using real GM and delco parts can cost you similar to auto parts store junk IF you shop wisely

Check out the coolant recovery tank fittings, the brass fitting that connects the overflow hose to the radiator on my 03 Z06 Started to leak and dripped fluid where you seem to be talking about, I had the tank replaced and end of problem, Good Luck

they can leak from multiple locations and the small hose off it is leak prone and so is the tank.
this is why replacing all parts is such a good idea. they aren't expensive and it's so much easier to put it back together and get a good seal with all new parts and hoses.
