[Z06] new MSD intake manifold?!?

new MSD intake manifold?!?
Ok guys, as some of you know msd released their new intake manifold recently. I've done some research with limited results, but I'm curious to know if anyone has one on a c5 yet. Fitment and performance results specifically. Curious to know how these are comparing to the tried and true fast intakes. Might be a shot in the dark but please chime in with any info!!

I saw that intake as well. I couldn't find much out about it other than it seems like it's comparable to a FAST intake and has a similar two piece design.

$950 for the intake.
You'll need a tune, perhaps bigger TB, and all other expenses that may come along.
No Thanks

I was looking at these a few months ago while looking for some more hp for hpde's. I had the TB ported, but after talking with the porter who did the tb, he mentioned he was actually doing some testing for MSD on their LS7 version and though it had some possibilities, there were still issues to be worked out.
I'm running an LS3 based 416 and the MSD versions to fit it were advertised to be available at the beginning of 2015, but pushed back to April or so due to issues. The shop that does my work has a former employee with MSD who they contacted to ask about progress and he said it could be May or later before they have the issues worked out.
I've heard 20+hp, but at darn near $1000 and still not quite ready for prime time, I'm in a holding pattern, though we have offered to be a guinee pig for a small fee.

2pcs intake design... would make replacing the OPS alot easier.. but i dont think it is very attractive looking. Any pics inside of it?
found 1 pic.. LONG runners, should make for good TQ.

From what I've read, it has gains over the Fast intake. However, on a LS6 some mods are required. To make it seal properly you'll have to grind some bolts and part of the water pump housing, or swap to an LS2 water pump.

I recently received an MSD Atomic Air Force manifold to install on the LS6 in my '04 Z06, "ole 3Balls39".
I'm in the process of getting the car set for a trip into the I.E. to run on Westech's chassis dyno and get some baseline numbers before swapping manifolds.
I just finished testing the LS7 version of the AAF intake. According to MSD's Lead Engineer for the AAF program, Caleb Newman, the LS6 version was developed using similar engineering philosophies, so I expect an improvement in performance proportional to the engine size. Stock LS7s see about a 22-hp gain with an AAF intake so, on a near stock LS6, I'm guessing 18-19-hp with proper calibration.
The engine I'm testing with is stock except for a Crane 1.8:1 rocker arm kit and dual valve springs. The AAF installation requires conversion to an LS2 fuel rail and coolant pump, so I've ordered those pieces from Zip Products.
I'll be reporting back to this thread from time to time.

Wanted to try the fast intake on my 416 on my 04 and the shop owner said they hardly ever saw any gain. His previous dyno operator had gone to work for MSD and had some knowledge of their intakes and told the shop owner that the one for the LS7 was a pretty good piece, but they were having all kinds of issues with the intakes for the LS3 and basically gave up on it.
I was hoping to hear that they figured it out, as moving the LS3 based 416 from an 02 camaro with straight thru exhaust to the 04 Z using the factory TI over axle has cost me about 10-15rwhp, even after elec cutouts and was hoping the MSD piece could get that and a little more back.
I will be interested to see what the results are for the LS6, though I thought they had deep sixed all but the LS7 intake. A guy I sent my TB to for porting in Fla had been testing their intakes as well with not much gains and lots of bugs still not worked out.
Keep us informed Hal. Thx!

One thing that all of you should be aware of is that the MSD Atomic Air Force intake manifolds DO NOT FIT a C5 Corvette.
They were designed for use in the C6 Corvettes.
If you try and install them in a C5, the manifold will hit the cowl and the firewall.

Not sure what intake you had on your car already but I personally gained 35rwhp and 27rwtq when I went from a ls6 to a fast 102 on my 408.

Did you actually try to install the LS6 Atomic Air Force manifold on a C5 or are you repeating what you may have read elsewhere?

I called MSD in El Paso and they told me they had designed the manifold for C6 Corvettes and that they did not fit C5s.

Seems that picture above disproves your statement.
When you asked MSD, either they were confused or maybe you called them a long time ago, when only the C6 LS7 manifold was available.
In any event, based on the picture above, I'm pushing ahead with my test program.
In the next few weeks, I'm headed for the dyno with the car to baseline it then, I'll install the intake and go back and test.
The engine is an LS6 which is stock except for Crane 1.8 rockers and Crane dual valve springs.
