Default OEM c6 Z06 wheels on C5 z06 pics!

Hey guys,

I know this discussion has popped up a lot of times but I wanted to show you that OEM speedline c6 z06 can work on a c5 without any mods! Not even spacers. Anyhow, got these wheels for $400 bucks on craigslist and thought ide give them a try. They mounted up very nicely, only problem I ran into was the rear wheels would run up aagainst my leaf spring; took a grinder to the part that was rubbing and problem fixed. I have fender flares In the front, but the rears are stock quarters. My car is lowered and thE stance is perfect. No protruding tires or anything.

Any less angled shots showing the exact amount of flushness of the wheels?

What size tires are you running?

They look good - do you know how much those weigh?

I'm curious how much more unsprung weight this adds.

GS wheels look good on C5Z's as well.

From what I've read I head the fronts are about 22 pounds a wheels and the rears are 25 pounds a wheel. So definitely a bit heavier. The only advantage I can see would be running a wider tire. 325s on the rear almost have a stretch to them. I think I could even get away with 335s in the rear and 295's up front. On the street however I cant notice any difference though from my stock c5 z06 wheels.

Looking good. I wanted to run this setup but had trouble finding a source of wheels locally.

Sorry for taking forever to get the pic. But here it is. All I had to do was grind off about 3mm of metal that wraps around the end of the leaf on each Side.

That must JUST clear due to the tire you're running. I have 345's on C6Z wheels and they sure didn't seem like they would go. You have the Z brake ducts in there and everything? I swear mine were hitting the tub before they were even coming close to seating on the face of the rotor.

You sure about this!!!??..lol. Reason I ask is, I ditched the L5's because I started not to like the imbalanced look of the car, but now I have to drive my car 800 miles on C6Z spaced out wheels and no L5's...just stockies. It'd be nice to do what you've done here...but...hmmm...I don't think mine will fit.

^^^ I am running LPE mini-tubs to fit 345/30-19s on mine (stock fenders). Lost the Z06 brake ducts in the process, but worth it to accomplish what I wanted.

I had to take out the rear ducts because those were rubbing a tad bit.
I the front I can see them sticking out a little bit if you don't have flares. I have the 3/4" flare up front and the fronts sink in about an inch. I might put a 10mm space Up front to stance it a bit more. I'm guessing your tires were rubbing, in my case the 325's have some stretch and the first thing that would hit is the actual rim. It definitely tight even with the 325's but no rub Lol.

I am mid process to doing a custom LibWalk setup for the C5...problem is I relocated cross country unexpectedly and the car is half done. I was about to begin the final shaping and clay process, but then moved...so basically I need to drive the car across the country with this foam on it...lol..

Have you guys noticed any extra lift generated by the scoops routing air straight under the car instead of onto the brakes and out through the wheels? Has anybody come up with a way to replace or modify the ducts when doing a minitub or big tires, to retain the OE aero and function?

No, I have not, but I'm not going to be a good test case. I haven't had the car to sustained speeds over 160mph since I did this mod.
