The State of Calif, and Summit Racing are now out to chase none complaint cars.
I just went to Summit Racing to get some brake fluid, and was told that to complete my purchase I would have to sign an agreement form stating that I agree not to install a none compliant CARB parts or remove any smog equipment and if caught will be prosecuted and have the license/registration of that vehicle confiscated/revoked, and fined .
Well I didn't sign, and went to a different dealer of the brake fluid and got a better price on the fluid to boot. This shop also didn't know of any such agreement required to buy parts.
So no more buying from Summit for me.
By the way no one at Summit could tell me how this agreement is processed nor could I have a copy...

are you seriously so naive as to not realize what is happening? summit is a major aftermarket parts supplier and would never have such a policy unless they were forced to. if you have seen this there you will see it soon virtually everywhere in your state.
smaller shops that avoid doing so will be fined into compliance or put out of business

Burning Brakes
I don't buy parts at Summit but so far haven't been asked to sign anything on the auto parts I shop ( Autozone,Pep B, O'Relly's, and so on ). I'll keep an eye open next time I'll buy anything else. Thanks Mark !

there is another bill being talked about that's even worse. auto makers are looking to basically copyright their electronics which would actually make certain mods infringement

After talking with some other members of the media, what may be going on is that Summit and other aftermarket sales are going to be reporting back to CARB on what parts you have bought and if there is any possibility that any non CARB # parts are going on a Calif registered car they now have reason to call you in for a check, or even worse have CHP come by and do a physical check.
A call to CARB has not been returned.

follow the money, that's where it leads.
as much as i wish we could purge republicans from politics i'm very aware it would do nearly zero as money is what makes things happen. ideals are what people get fed to create arguments that distract from the bigger picture

Yes I can see were the Hot Rods running around are the problem we all as Americans are facing at this time ,let me see bridges falling down the big plants putting out tons of what is that smoke roads all missed up heck ice cream killing people ISSI trying to blows us all up and on and and on and on NO the big prop is the Hot Rods if we get rid of them Outlaw Hot Rodders all our problems well be over and we will all be happy .. Agreed, but Democrats RUN California, and are therefore 100% responsible for all of the anti-car, anti-gun nonsense laws in the state. I live in Cali part time, this place is ridiculous. You can't tell me it isn't a D vs R thing; my other home is in Republican-controlled Arizona, where people leave your car and gun choices up to you.
