Default Can anyone tell the difference in gas!

I just moved to northern Michigan and I can't find a good fuil. I tried Citco 93 octain and speedway and I really feel a loss of power. Is it my imagination or has anyone else experience this same thing? I'm used to sunococo 93 octain. What do you guys think?

Yeah I think your right Scotti.I can tell the difference. But a friend of mine clams that all gas is from the same refineries. Go figure. .

might come from same refineries in local area, what happens then is each brand has additives they add to meet their specs, detergents etc. and some are better than others. where i live i wouldn't run anything ALON but do run "top tier" gas which is known by studies etc. to be better.....bottom line run what makes you happy, me i like shell, conoco, QT, chevron all of which are rated top tier.

summer weather also plays a part. more humidity and hotter temps reduce power

Use Shell or Chevron premiums. If I use anything but that, my 2002 Z06 idles really rough and my fuel gauge goes all over.

I have good luck with either Shell or Mobil 93 octane. I have a '02 C5Z
with no mods to the motor.

Yeah I wish that I could get Shell or Sunoco up here. I'll just have to drive further to get it. But there is a big difference!

Different petroleum providers use different additives to their fuel mixtures. I doubt that the gasoline itself causes the performance issues (as long as we are talking same octane rating), but the additives surely can and do. This is especially true for my Victory Kingpin and my Z06.

the stripes stations here now have a big sunoco sign up and i doubt it is their gas rather they just own stations as most gas if not all comes from a refinery that alon owns, go figure...like i said additives make the gas.

If the station's tanks and pumps are well-maintained, there should be negligible difference between brands asides from additives.

Shell, Chevron and BP are my personal favorites, but I have used Raceway and Citgo without any issues.

91 is the highest I can get where I am. I've tried Shell, Mobil, and Costco and couldn't tell a difference. Costco is 40 cents cheaper/gal so I use that.

If I'm really getting on it,that's when I can tell the difference. Not just regular driving.

have you logged the car to see if there is any knock present and timing being pulled?

if you haven't logged the car how do you know??... if you are able to tell a difference then I would be concerned about having a batch of bad gas and it causing knock and potentially causing other issues
