Default Downsizing cam in Ls2 questions

Hey guys I'm considering changing cams in my Ls2 C5Z. Currently my setup is fast 92, Ls2 tb, tfs 220's, 1 7/8 kooks, and 239/244 111 lsa cam and put down 489/442. Im wanting better driveability and I'm sick of the surging with the setup that I have. I'm considering a Btr stage 2 Ls2 cam. Roughly how much power will I be leaving going this route and will it be noticeable on the street? Thanks

That is a nasty cam, under 2000 rpm it probably wants to pitch you out the window I've a stroker that had a similar overlap camshaft, I could not tolerate it.

I've been able to reduce the overlap 17.5 down to 10.5 & currently 5* with no loss to the top end power. Careful selection of the valve train components has resulted in nice gains under the curve & still hit good numbers in the top end.

I touched 500rw & 435ftlbs with my LS1 with a much smaller cam than you are running currently & near perfect street manners.

Have you talked with Brian regarding his camshaft & your cylinder heads? Martin @ Tick is another resource of information that may help you select something more suitable while making good top end power.

You do not need silly big camshafts to make good power.

I called Brian today and they recommended their stage 2 cam. I just hope I don't notice a power difference

Bet you don't lose any HP below 6200, and gain TQ throughout.

I was told at best I would see 30cfm on the heads and that I would probably be disappointed for the money invested. That's exactly what I picked up with my Ls7 when I had my stock heads worked. Minimal difference seat of the pants. Not worth the coin imo

I drove the car today after it sitting for 2 weeks. There literally is hardly ever a moment where you cruise perfectly smooth without a hiccup from the cam. I guess I'm getting older and priorities are changing lol

YOu would love the way your car runs, with the BTR cam, and a good tune.
