if nothing is in the fan, have him check the rockers. I broke one coming back from Carslile PA at 3 in the morn and thought is was an engine.

its definitely rotational and we disconnected the serpentine belt and it still made the noise.. it goes up and down with engine RPM

That sounds like a spun bearing. Had that same sound in my challenger I spun the bearing and bent the rod.

I would pull the covers and inspect the rocker arms, check valves, compression test for cylinder pressure. I'm not a mechanic but I've had these problems

thanks for the ideas.....so far the rocker arms look good and it doesn't make the noise when cranking with all the plugs out of the engine......

Weird, on my little crap speakers it sounded like an exhaust leak. Did this just start? Any mods or work done before it started? ...

no new mods and it sounded and ran well before then all of a sudden when it was idling this started...its definitely rotational almost like spokes in the wheel.

The engine is struggling to spin, I think the the spun bearing is the winner.

I would be there isn't much left of the shell in the big end of the rod.

I would love to hear more of the engine running, but I don't think it has too long to live

That's the work I was specifically thinking about and the other thing it sounded like on my phone; oil change forgetting to put in the oil. Not saying, just saying...

Bringing this to the top and wondering if you've found the problem yet?

well think of what happens when you miss a shift at 7,000 rpm and hit a lower gear....

look closely at 5:30 and 6:30 at the water jacket, in addition to the gouge in the piston

I bought an LS3 out of a camaro and installed my cam, headers, intake, and other parts that swapped over. I also drysumped it trying to make it bullet proof. LS6's are pretty hard to come by but a used LS3 block is pretty cheap
