Default Unreal

I have been taking an EMR training class for the last 5 weeks for work and I decided to take the Vette to the last class. I went to lunch with one of my buddies and while I was gone the instructor backed into my 1997 C5 with a 2012 Dodge Ram with a very sturdy front bumper.

I'm looking for a good shop in Las Vegas to take it to for repair hopefully. My Insurance company tells me that they are thinking of totaling it and I am just bummed about it.

Sorry to hear about this and hope you work it out.

But my question is this........

How did he "back" into your car with his "front" bumper?

He was parked next to me and said he couldn't see the car cause it was to low. His front bumper is what hit the car as he backed up. He stopped when he heard something as he put it. It was a county vehicle. It is the truck shown in the last picture.

Okay, I understand now. It still doesn't look like it should be totaled though. Good luck.

Honestly, it looks like he wacked it hard unless you parked like that. Someone was rushing, cut the wheel over, put it in R, goosed it and snagged the vette, pushing you over into the next parking spot.

The first photos almost looks unreal.

Sorry to see this, I hope you get it all straighted out.

sucks this happen to you my red 03z got totaled and i'm still really not over it even though i replaced it 3 days later with a black one

i was able to buy back my 03z and take what i wanted off it and swap parts from one to the other, so if they do total it you might be able to buy it back and have it fixed and pocket some money?

the panels on these cars bolt, glued in place or both so its not all that hard, it dont look like any frame damage rear fenders go for $150, doors about $400, the rocker about $300 probably another $300-$400 in other parts so parts wise $1,000+/- then labor and paint i really cant see them totaling it out for that? you can probably have the parts on in a few weekends if you can do it your self

Look at the bright side. Now you can add flared rear fenders!

Yeah, it doesnt look like it should be totaled to me either. Both my insurance and the counties insurance are talking total. They are basing it on KBB but not taking into consideration the upgrades like wheels, brakes and others. It only has 80K on it so lots of life left.
You guys with parts, I will contact you if it comes to it thanks.
And yeah he hit it hard. Moved it about a foot and a half. The car actually came off the ground about a foot. It was on the top of his bumper.

Problem is, looks like the door rocker is cracked! That's where it becomes big money and very hard to find brand new ones especially the driver....It sucks but maybe it might be a chance to get some cash buy it back and either fix it or part it out. Just a thought , good luck!!!

Sorry about your Corvette ,but is a heads up and something to think about when it comes to INS. on your ride ,they don't care how much money you got in it ,they open up the little book and bam that's what we will give you for your ride and they do a percentage for the damages against the valve they have a set number if goes over for repairs ,here is a $10,000 check for the Corvette you got $20-$30,000 in ,happened to me check into it might want to upgrade the INS. It's a sick felling to be afford BS for a Corvette you got big money in .. Just an FYI ,Happen to me ..

What, he couldn't see a car next to him as he walked to his truck? Completely unaware of his surroundings....It may be an honest accident but damn.....this isn't HIS world.

Had a guy give me the same excuse who backed onto the hood of my (now sold) C5 FRC. 5 or 6 cars in the entire parking lot and instead of just pulling forward to pull out where there was no car in front of him, he decides to back out.....straight back. How the FK do you NOT see a car (any car) when you had to drive right past it to pull in?

I feel your pain.

So many dumb drivers out there. I won't park my Z near anybody if I dare park in a public lot. I park on the complete opposite side. Seems like a quarter mile walk sometimes. Sorry about your pain. I would be devastated.

He hit YOU, no rules apply to you as far as policies go. His policy will cover to get the car fixed.

Don't let them pull your chain, their insured hit you....treat it as such.

If you need some questions answered PM me.

You are wrong.

If you wrecked your own car and your own insurance is covering it then yes.

If someone else is at fault and hit you, this is wrong. They want you to think that though.

Do you have these advertised here? I may be adding a Z to my FRC and with two C5's the parts may come in handy.

Good call. The OPs insurance should never even come into play. It's all on the other driver, and I would make him feel the pain...

If the insurance totals it, just buy it back, bolt on some new panels and fix it for pennies on the dollar.
