Benefits of a ported oil pump?
I have a potted ls6 oil pump from an old build brand new in the box, and I just bought a bone stock c5z06. Is there any benefits in throwing this on a stick motor? If not what kind of build would this go good on? It was originally for an ls2 stroker motor.

No. If you plan on doing a cam swap at some point, keep it around for that...if not, sell it and put it towards something else. Oil pump is one of those things that most replace with cam swap because it's a ton of work to replace on its own....makes sense to just replace it while you're there. Most just get a ported unit or some other "upgrade" because they feel like they might as well while they are there.
Really nothing wrong with stock LS6 unit. I got a Melling 10295, standard volume with the higher pressure bypass spring. I got it to help offset some of the oil pressure drop I get with my oil cooler.

Depends on how you drive and whether or not porting staves off the point at which the stock pump cavitates.
