Please lend me some advise...

What is a reasonable price to pay?

Hmmm. Well 20K ought to buy you a nice 02 or 03. But remember, whichever one you get will need the valve springs replaced.

DO NOT PAY $20,000 for a 2001 Z06 period. Buy a 2002-04 Z06 with low miles for $20k. If you don't listen you'll wish you had down the road. I paid $15k for my 2004 with 105k miles. It has long tube headers and I put the titanium mufflers back on it. Tuned with 385rwhp. A real fun car to drive. There are so many of these cars out here so do yourself a favor and don't fall in love with one or ANY car for that matter. They are only money. So unless you have endless amounts of cash make a smart purchase.

Remember a 2001 is first generation of the C5 Zs, and like the C2 split windows in time "may" be the car to have over the Valve spring prone motor exploding Second Gen C5Zs...;-), and in stock form the performance differences are almost negligible to the average driver. $20k for a car with the capabilities of the Z is a bargain, and should be a bargain even at twice the price compared to the cost of newer Corvettes, and other super cars.
Just my 2 cents.

20k for a clean low mile 01 sounds good to me. Around here 100k c5z's are going for 17k.
The 01 thing is really overplayed. More than one 02-04 owner has offered to trade cars with me. Drive the car hard, cruise at 4500+rpm's for a bit and see if you get any blue smoke or oil smell, and if not you're probably golden.
My 01 uses a quart every 1500+2000 miles and I drive it pretty hard. I can live with that, I know any 02-04 would burn some oil the way I drive.
Sure if you can get an 02-04 in the same price range with the same miles and condition go for it. If this is the best car in your price range then you'll be happy.

$20 Looks about right. I'd probably get an 04 z if I were you. My 04 Z had 66k miles for $21.5k. Stock except for short shifter and very clean.

Yep the 04 Z is one of the if not the best C-5 Z0-6 .What you want the ride for ? The 405HP ones already have some up grades with the more HP handle a little better might find one about the same price .. But a nice Corvette at a good price is a nice Corvette $20,000 about right .. ..

20K is about right for an 01 with this low mileage.
Nothing wrong with the 01s, but I would personally rather have an 02-04 model. In fact I do!
In reference to collectability, I doubt that this is going to have any bearing on collectability, whether first year (01) or an 03 (fiftieth anniversary badges), or an 04. The Z16 may have more collector value in the long term, than the ones with the fiftieth badging, then perhaps the 01 is next.
Low production models probably will be the most collectable (as in color combos). However, that is long way off before any reach collector status.

Those with 04z's talk about it being the best, when in reality I chose to completely avoid 03's and 04's.
Fuel crossover pipe problems and c6 fuel system? No thanks. I'll take my 15 minute fuel pump install and not have to worry about a cracked crossover pipe.
Coilovers and sway bars would be cheaper than fixing the cracked crossover pipe, and the car would handle even better than the stock 04z.
Not trying to discredit 04's, but I wouldn't buy one. It's a hell of a lot easier (and more fun) to modify a car than to fix fuel system issues. To me having an 02z is probably the best bet if you're not sure about oil consumption.

Seems the Fuel system worked fine on 8 years of C6's, got my '04Z in 2011 with 17k on it, has bit over 50k now and its been bulletproof....hardly something I'll lose sleep over.

You guys have really never seen the posts about the cracked fuel crossover pipes on 04's? Some members have reported $2000+ repairs bills for it.
The other fuel system pita is the fuel pump. You can't simply pull the pump on an 03/04 corvette, you have to drop the tank to get to it.

Valve springs can be swapped for $60 easily. Problem solved. Most 01 cars were fine as far as oil consumption, and those that weren't were most likely fixed under warranty. There really is no real wrong year c5z to buy. It's ridiculous to say "don't buy an 01 you will regret it"
