My assumption is yes, but looking for some photos and clearance info. Considering a square setup here for temporary use. Pics?

Dug up this pic....

Seems like they need a spacer under load. Anyone confirm they run this setup hard?

no lug nuts on that wheel - i wonder if it's just resting on the caliper :/

That photo looks pretty accurate. A buddy had this on his car and it did work. There's only about 1/8" clearance but it does fit and clear. He didn't have any spacer and drove the car on streets without issue. If you were going to canyon carve or roadcourse/autocross I would recommend an 1/8 to 3/16 spacer as a safety precaution. It does fit and can be driven normally without issue though.

Yeah...I've looked around a bit. Seems the autocross/road race forums have a few who run this setup successfully. I am still debating my direction here.

I have the C6 Z06 brake caliper fitment template from another CF member

when I was considering what to do, I got that and printed it at exactly 100% size, glued it onto stiff paper, cut on the dotted lines

could then insert it into prospective wheels to see clearance

send me an email addy and I'll send it to you

No pics, but mine look just like the pic you found. I have had zero clearance issues. They are a close fit, but mine have never touched and they have seen plenty of load on NT01's.

I had that set up on my C5Z for about a year, until I sold the car. The spoke to caliper clearance was pretty much the same as the picture you provided above... There's 1-2mm of clearance at the closest points. I didn't track the car, but I did drive it hard on some nice roads here and there. Never had an issue with it rubbing...

The picture above is also a little deceiving, since their are no lug nuts on the wheels.

Thanks!

It was a project that quickly added up.I snagged the calipers from the forum here, I had to purchase rotors, pads, SS lines else where and then hardware from GM. The hardware was the curveball I didn't see coming. The pins are expensive from Gm, the calipers I snagged were bare... I jumped on them because they were charcoal grey, vs the standard red.

I thought running different size rims messed with the Active handling feature?

I'm not an automotive engineer, but what I have experienced is that the problem happens when you use equal size TIRES front and rear, or get too far from the orignal relationship between F and R OEM sizes.

If you do some easy math, the diameter of the OEM front tire is 0.97 of the OEM rear.

I don't know how far from that ratio you can get before problems, but I know from experience that equal size tires F and R is an issue.

The ECU is looking for relative wheel/tire RPM front to rear to decide whether or not to engage the active handling

I used to work for a thrill ride company that had 8 C5 Z06s on a road course. For simplicity, they used OEM 10.5" 18" wheels all around with the same size 295 tires.

So if you left the active handling turned on and entered a corner at speed, the active handling would kick in an take the throttle away from you and apply a rear brake. Just when you did not want that to happen

So we turned it off before starting out.

I have 18" front and rear, but chose tire sizes to stay close to that 0.97 ratio and have never had an issue

nope. it's total outside diameter that is the concern, not wheel size. You can run square wheels and different size tires (larger in back) just fine. Many people do that very successfully. I did for a long long time.

I'm currently running a totally square setup. same wheels and same tires on all 4 corners. never an issue as long as I keep the tire pressure out back higher than the front. got over 12k miles like that. check my tire pressures couple times a week and never an issue. Some cars seem to be fine with that, some not so. never bothered to figure out what made it work.

Either way, same size wheels is rarely ever an issue if the tires in back are larger.

At this stage, I've made a decision to sell a truck and one of my BMW's to move into a new daily, so my Z06 won't get promoted (demoted if you think about it...lol). For now, I'm continuing on my path to get this widebody done....we'll see.

I did a lot of research on this same topic last year and the C6Z brakes have about 1mm of clearance behind a standard C5Z 18" wheel. That was way too close for me personally, so I called Todd at TCE and purchased one of his Wilwood kits that includes 6-piston front calipers and use the stock C6Z rotors. This setup will give you plenty of room behind the C5Z wheel and quite frankly is a superior caliper for about the same cost. Below is the link to TCE and Todd really knows his stuff.
