Default Thoughts on this Z06?

http://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-s...15627978&Log=0

I've been on the hunt for a 2004 Z06 for a while now, but not much luck, I've seen some I liked, but those ones were never close to home. This car has been listed for quite a while now, the price keeps coming down, and it's about a two hour drive away from me. I've been holding back on this one because I'm not crazy about black, or some of the mods, and it's a 5 owner car, but lately I'm thinking maybe I should take a harder look at this car.

This would be my first Vette, so I just wanted to get some more expert advice and opinion on the car. Thanks!

5 owners in 12 years.to me thats alot in my opinion! have you checked it out on carfax or Autocheck? this car has some big mods. do you have some mechanical ability? i had a black Z with 5k miles and i loved it but didnt drive it much so i sold it. a year later i bought an '04 torch red Z with the mod red interior with 13k miles and i love this car,ive had it 8 years now.both cars all stock. dont know your budget but finding a car close to you is convenient but wouldnt be in my criteria. i sent u a PM too. i'm also a fan of the .38 super, if your sig means what i think it means.

If it's in good shape, I wouldn't let 5 owners scare me away. I paid 23K for my 2004 Z back in august and it had 4 previous owners. It was well maintained and two mechanics have given it the thumbs up. That is a very fairly priced car, you should at least have a look.

My advice is DON'T SETTLE!!! A Corvette is a car you want. You don't need it. You should wait until you find the Corvette that meets your wants. If you do, you will enjoy the car to its fullest otherwise, you'll likely question your decision.

I wouldn't worry about the number of owners. Condition / maintenance is more important.

Corvette buying is not easy and remember the next day after you buy whatever you will see the one you think you should have gotten .. Lot of C-5 right now for sale low miles ones also now is a good time to be looking .. Nothing wrong with going out of town to buy the right one have to do your home work ..Go for it.. I don't understands why some people think the right Corvette they have been looing for maybe years is just right around the next block.. My 04 came from NJ to Houston seen a walk around video got to be smart about the deal but did my home work and Bam super deal on a nice 04 Z-16 ..Just saying..

start corresponding w the owner and check the carfax. If you have time...go see it. Looks clean. If it moves you...make an offer. If not....keep on looking. Expand your search. Life is short....get what you want.

Not a fan of that single din unit some previous owner did, but to each his own. Don't let 4 owners scare. Especially now it being 2016. Vettes get traded around quite often. Not uncommon. My car had 7 owners before I bought her. Had only 45k at the time (bought in 2007). Don't be afraid to go out of state either. I set a 500mi limit for myself at the time. And boy did I do some traveling looking at some. As suggested, do a Carfax. If the owner has maintenance paperwork, the car drives well, has no codes, you don't mind the maintenance of the color black, then buy her

Agree with all the cautions above. My '02 Z had 4 owners and only 16k when I got it. the car was a terrific. I sold it, foolishly, with 35k on it. They are great cars. Drive it!

This Z was in a total loss accident and has an issue with the title. That's the reason its been sitting for a while. I spoke with the owner and he never disclosed that to me. I found out on my own. Its one thing if the seller discloses that upfront, but to hide it only makes the seller look very dishonest and a clear sign to walk away.

I was considering an "airbags deployed" car at a great price that I drove as well. It had a cracked front fender and replacement driver's door. I have no idea what the frame damage was so I eliminated it. It also needed a total paint job, so the great price would have ended up as the same or more as a sound car. Run from this one!

I don understand how people can sell totaled CARS??? Maybe state to state deal .. CARFAX never think about buying any ride without looking at the car fax FIRST not after you have it sitting in your driveway .. Corvette buying is not easy ..

To listen to some of the sales people you would think they are giving you gold for free. I was told: "I had to go thru fields in Texas to look at the cars and pushed away weeds to see this one".
---that I didn't buy or look at!

That's one thing I've definitely learned. When I started looking months ago, I thought it would be a breeze to find a great deal on a really good car, especially in the Winter time. I was way off the mark there.

Yep the last Corvette I brought took 6 mounts to find the right one and 6 months to sell one also . One prop. with buying a C-5 is they are older and have miles on them most do so is a little harder to find a good one that a newer one with lower miles but they are out there . Two people in the SJCC club I belong to in the last few weeks have brought two low miles C-5s at a OK price one 02 Z with 23,000 all stock , tires also ( Need to change them ) and one Anniversary one drop top DA DA 6,800 miles I know right some older lady had it go figure .. Sounds like you know what your looking at and that's the key to get a nice ride and just maybe a deal ..

Corvettes generally have more owners than many other cars.Folks buy them with extra $ and it's usually the first thing to go when extra $ is needed.
