As much as I love my C5Z and trust it to not break, I wouldn't use it as a daily driver.

If you are going to be in the car a lot, in traffic a lot and just want something cool to drive, I would get a 2006-07 C6 with a A6.

Only a short time owner here (since like August of last year) but the car has been perfect. No electrical issues, runs great, I have driven it to the east coast of FL a few times (from the west coast of FL) and wouldn't hesitate to take it on a long trip. I was torn between the C5Z and a Viper, and the C5Z makes a MUCH better driver (although it is not my daily.)

Now I need a 3 car garage so I can put a white 08-10 Viper SRT10 next to my SW Z and my white twin turbo Cobra

*I'll also note that my Cobra is dead on reliable as well, and it makes nearly 1200hp. I'd jump in that car and drive it to California with the a/c blowing ice cold, and the tunes bumpin'

I trust mine as well any car. I don't daily drive it, but I'm not afraid to. It has puked dd duty for short periods while the other car was out of commission. Only issue has been parasitic draw, but i have a sound system and hid, led lights. So i suspect it may be my own doing. If driven weekly it's not a problem. But 2 weeks without the battery tender and it will need a jump. That's minor though.

But why? This car is so easy to drive that you can legitimately drive it with just one foot (assuming you don't have a big cam, or aren't on a steep incline)

Been daily driving my SWZ for 3 years and 40k miles, and love it.

In fact, I've been toying with the idea of getting another car, more like a cheaper beater, just because I want something to toy with since the z is such a good dd.

Last Summer, my wife and I took my 03Z from the San Francisco bay area to Chicago, then followed old Rte 66 back to Santa Monica. Then back up the coast back to the Bay Area. This was a trip both of us looked forward to (both in our later 60s), and we'd never have considered a different car. Took things slowly and spent 5 weeks traveling and visiting. In the two years and 20,000 miles I've had this car, there's only been one issue. A puncture in a tire.

I love my Z16 as a toy and cross-shopped it with C6s. I wanted something raw and out of the ordinary. I could drive it every day, but that doesn't make it a good daily IMHO. YRMV.

Not sure about that. Plenty of 700HP+ LS6s out there. Also, the LS6 is pretty bomb-proof durability-wise. The LS3 is undoubtedly a step up, but getting bored?

60,000 miles as daily driver since 2005. I have had ZERO problems which would leave me stranded. I have had some side mirror problems and some CEL issues, but nothing which would leave me stranded. I have droven my 04 Z06 from Detroit to Richland via Houaton, and from Richland to Granbury and lots of "ordinary" miles.

I've owned 5 corvettes thru the years, now after 40+ years of ownership, not one has left me standing at the curb.

You asked for honest - so here goes. I daily drive my 02 Z06 March-November except on rainy days, so I guess you could say I trust it - sort of. Bought it new in '02, and still bone stock except for wheels and a few cosmetic bits. I have 35,000 miles on it - not high mileage! Within a year, the heater core failed, which meant the dealership removed the dash (and the dash trim on the console never fit quite right again.) Shortly after the warranty was up in 2005, it began it's pattern of throwing codes at least annually. I'm not exaggerating. 2014 was the only year in the last 10 when there wasn't something requiring repair. That being said, I found the wealth of knowledge on the Corvette Forum invaluable. I've done every repair myself from learning to desolder and solder on the circuit board to fix a power window, to a similar repair in the other door for the locks, to various electrical issues under the hood, to removing the steering column to replace an electronic sensor, and the list goes on and on. I've never actually been stranded, although a few of the problems made for some scary drives home. Made it almost through all of last year before a new intermittent code appeared, and as always, the forum has instructions to fix it, so I'll eventually tackle it this summer.

I drive a Lexus on rainy days and over the winter. Higher miles. ZERO repairs. Honda, Toyota, Acura... similar reliability.

Guess which car I love more... without question, it's the Z. Thanks to the CF, I get the "opportunity" to get up close and personal with her at least annually and get the satisfaction of saving real dollars over taking it to the stealership for repairs.

Default zo6

I just totaled my 2008 Ls3 coupe....was looking for another c6, but I stumbled across an 02 zo6 in the same red as the other car...it has a 102K miles on it, but paint is great, interior almost like new, wheels are mint and it has new tires. I picked it uip for 14k. The car is much tighter than my c6 coupe and runs great...shifts better and def handles much better. I had an 03 zo6 with low mileage a few years ago...this one I just bought rides better than the 02. Now I know I have to do at least one wheel bearing, fix the abs module and fix the heater display...but I am enjoying the car immensely and drive it daily...it is more fun than I have had in a while. I sold a 2000 very afew years ago with a 130K on it...that was my daily driver also...it ran like a beast and was 100% reliable when I sold it. These old vettes are very trustworthy...you just have to be willing to do some wrenching from time to time...the forum will give you all the answers you need

I will be doing headers and a tune on my car, valve springs def....maybe a small cam in the future....funny, the clutch in this car feels better than the one in my former 30,000 mile c6

My wife and I drove up to Ohio from Texas in the Z06 last summer. It was about 1800 mile round trip. Would I trust it as a daily, in heartbeat. With that being said, I bought it as a toy and I typically only drive it weekends.

Compared to what? You have to take into account power to weight ratio.

The C5 Z06 is a 4 second 0 to 60 car and low to high 12s stock. With the right tires, it can corner at 1Gs.

If you are looking for a DD monster, you may want to look at a new C7 Z06, a C6 ZR1, or a C6 Z06 with 505 HP. Either that or a Cadillac CTS-V, or Dodge Hellcat.

I have been daily driving my 04 Z16 ZO6 with 24K miles on it for the past 3.5 years (except snow)... 709 WHP now, supercharged, fully built bottom end, etc. Purchased bone stock for $30K back in November of 2011 with 2800 original miles. Very few issues. These cars are great for daily drivers (minus snow), very tame but can turn into a monster when you want it to - makes the daily commute much more enjoyable.

I would drive it anywhere, at anytime, with no worries.

.
Have a Camino that runs pretty good
Two totally different cars but if I have to give it up for a one and only car that right pedals gotta keep me happy
Know the Z06 do well for a stock car but honestly my old ZR1 would keep up and powerwise the ZR1 was fun for about 15 min. 12s or 13s isnt bad but just not fast anymore you guys know how it goes once you have xxx amount of power no going back

Buying would require me to sell the old iron not sure if Im ready yet after having it up for awhile. Had a good offer just not good enough

See what the future brings

Like I said there will always be someone saving one (thanks!LOL) if I get "there". I also have a low tolerance for electrical issues

Bought my 01Z at 18 and I'm 22 now. It's been my daily driver since the day I purchased it. And I mean every single day unless it was snowing or a major storm. It has 165k on it. I've put 60k of those miles on. I travel for my job and take the car any chance I get. I live in Springfield MO and have driven I t from there to Florida (18hrs) New Orleans, Dallas, Houston, Jackson MS, Colorado Springs, and South Carolina just to name the main areas. Never had any major issues that I couldn't fix. This year I had to replace the transmission. Found one on eBay for 950 out of a ~50k Z06. Did the work with my dad and a friend. Took 6-7hrs to do the complete swap. And it was my first time ever doing any type of major fix like that. Only other thing I have replaced is the clutch and that was also this year, a week ago to be exact. The motor is still running as strong as the day I bought it. As long as you respect the car and keep up with General maintence (oil, fluids, plugs, tires, ect) there is no reason to not have faith in a Z06. This car has been great for me and I would recommend buying a corvette over any other American made sports car IMHO.
