LS7 exhaust manifolds?
Will they increase the volume of my GHL bullets? Need to stay smog legal.

By volume, I'm assuming you mean sound. Sound and smog are two different things. If you're worried about smog, you should be asking two questions: 1) Will all my stock sensors be reporting normally when the smog tech plugs into my OBD2 port? 2) Will it pass the visual inspection?

Oh, I misunderstood the angle you were coming from. You are already assuming that LS7 manifolds will pass smog, and are simply wondering if it's a worthwhile upgrade.

I was under the impression that there were some carb legal shorty headers. May be worth looking into that.
No huge gains but probably some volume and slight power increase.

If you want to stay legal than don't change the exhaust manifolds.
There are NO officially CARB legal headers (long/short) for the C5 Z06 AFAIK.
All the ones that claim to be are shorties and really are only good for the regular LS1 C5 (non-z06) if you look at the details of the CARB number.
The Ls7 manifolds are used because they look more OEM, but technically they not anymore legal than headers.
You still also need tune out the AIR injection system or modify them to accept it.
The LS7 manifolds may get you a few hp over the Ls6 exhaust manifolds.
The other suggestion is to have someone extrude hone your stock ones, but it's lots $ for the little hp gain.
Long tube's definitely make things louder, I've not heard the difference between Ls7/Ls6 manifolds on a Z06 but I'd assume it might be slightly louder if indeed flow any better.
BTW the aftermarket probably COULD if they wanted to... make a l header for the C5 Z06 that was CARB legal.

Find a shop that will smog your car for a wink, a nod, and a C note. That is your best option to do it right with LT headers.

When I was reading this post earlier I was thinking, are there really NO c5z's in CA with LT's?? Figured there had to be some way around the CA smog *****
