In other words, for the most part...my GTO GT Car was only little slower than an 03 Z06, stock, ironically, for about the same amount of money.

The Holden Grand Am was a fabulous car, able to meet, or beat a ZO6 in almost any configuration. It's big advantage was it's prodigious curb weight, which helps it hold to the road in GT driving situations. I dare you to prove me wrong.

What is the purpose? Seriously.

Oh - and I actually lived in OZ for 8 months and saw the REAL performance cars Holden had to offer....which could hold their own, but ALL are MUCH heavier than a C5Z....hell nearly anything these days is.
The GTO would need MAJOR suspension work (in fact as you must know the entire suspension on the car is a pile of parts bin dog poo), as much lightening measures as you can throw at it, plus power mods just to have a fighting chance....and while you're at it you'll need to ditch the skinnys and roll the fenders to fit some legit rubber on the car so it can hook up w/ all the extra power you'd need to add in order to keep up w/ a stock C5Z
The GTO was intended to be much more of straight line muscle car than the C5Z....and even in that endeavor it really isn't close at all...fastest time I can remember a stock LS2 GTO running in the 1/4 was a 12.8-12.9 - the norm being 13.1-13.3
And there have been a number of documented C5Z runs in the 11.8-11.9x range - come on bro.
Stop it. Give it up. GTO's are nice torquey "GT's" or IMO - an example of what would happen if a Lincoln Mark VIII mated w/ a Camaro SS - but they are not worthy of comparing to a C5Z performance-wise w/o HEAVY modification.

then post one single response, as to why the Z06 is better, that's the ticket!
