Vararam +LT's + tune = :D
I've had the car for 5 years now and the only hp mod it's had was the vararam on the stock tune. Finished installing XS power LT's last weekend and sent my pcm to East Coast Supercharging last week to have it programmed. Just put the pcm back in today and took it for a spin. WOW what a difference . After adding the LT's last week and now finally getting the performance tune it feels like a whole new car. Just spent the last hour doing 1-3 wot runs and couldn't get the smile off my face. I know a lot of you guys have way more power then this but had to share how happy I am with the car. Wasn't planning to run it in the 1/4 again but now I may have to, feels like it would pull a high 11 without breaking a sweat.

Purchased a MY '04, six speed coupe 10/13. Just went the same route. LG headers, high flow cats and x-pipe. Already had the TI exhaust. Also sent pcm to ECS for a reprogram.
I agree, totally different car. Cannot believe the difference in throttle response, acceleration and bottom end grunt compared to stock. Also woke up the TI exhaust. Couldn't be happier.

Thats the first things i did, vararam, AR LTs with no cats and a tune...the car really woke up and the drivability is great. I remember even the shifting felt different, also wait till you do some highway pulls, thats where vararam really shines.

I thought the VR was a pretty good mod on the stock tune but now, omg it feels like a beast. Car feels sooo much more responsive now, and yes the shifts do feel better now. Not to mention it sounds much better overall and just crazy good over 3k. Just wish I would've done this all a few years ago, car feels perfect now to me.

Congrats on the mods guys! I always love hearing mod stories that wake up these cars and show there potential.
Ain't it great to have a 13 year old car that makes you smile every time you drive it? 2

Glad you're enjoying our tune! Thanks for the business.

My Z needs a retune, and I've decided on ECS. Can't beat the price and Doug had shown to more classy than his competitors in many threads that I've read through. Now I need to sort out the whole "to cam or not to cam" issue so I don't have to send out my pcm twice.

Congrats OP! I'm with you, I just did basically the same mods (Kooks LTs, Catted X, V-Ram, ECS Tune) and I'm loving it too. These mods should be mandatory for these cars. My only gripe is that the car is still too darn quiet with the stock ti's. I called that guy in NJ today that does the ti welding, def gonna get the bypass mod done this summer.

I went with their mail order tune because I had fairly basic mods so far - vararam & LT's. Also had fans set to come on sooner, removed cags & air pump too. If I ever went with a bigger cam I'd take it for a Dyno tune. Really happy with their mail order tune so far though, heck of a lot cheaper than a dynotune.

Go with the mail order tune for now, and just factor in the cost of an actual dyno tune once you take the plunge with a cam. In my opinion, the tuner being there to be able to get the idle just right, fine tune the powerband, etc is worthwhile.
