02 Z06 mild cam with no headers results
Just got my car back today from Horsepower Sales in West Palm beach and I am extremely happy with the results. I dealt with Tod who was very patient and thorough. Have been contemplating swapping out cam with the springs. Car is my daily and did not want anything too loud or a cam that did not have good street manners.
HPS recommended 224/230 114 comp cam. Car is otherwise stock with KnN drop in filter and borla axleback. On their mustang dyno car made 403.85. Car has all the torque in the world and a ton of power throughout the band.
Slight chop on idle with a bit of a louder note. 2nd gear spins the tires with almost new bridgestones. Feels like a monster and im sure any more power would kill me
Did not really care to make much power, just wanted good street manners and the safety of new valve springs. I got more than I could ever ask for from the guys at HPS.
The team at Horsepower sales was extremely nice and very pleasant to deal with. I got a tour of their shop and after seeing all the other corvettes there, made me comfortable. Got to talk with the main tech Mike (LS Master) about what I should expect. Took them 2 days to install and tune car. These guys have my business from now on.
Sorry about the crappy photo, took it while driving. Still shows a nice torque curve. Will upload video as well

Something dosen't seem right. Mustang dyno's read lower than Dynojet's by 10-12%
Stock C5 Z06 on a Dynojet average = 355hp - 10% = 325hp
Add a small cam (and nothing else on a stock car) and you gained almost 80 hp. And you were still going up when they stopped it at 6k!

I agree, something is up with those #'s. No way is a stock car with a catback and a 224/230 cam putting down over 404rwhp+ on a Mustang dyno. Regardless, it sounds like a nice sleeper setup!

I can just barely tell there's a little something extra there at idle but to an untrained ear, that cam is undetectable. Pretty darn cool

Wasnt calling the OP a liar at all, just saying we appear to have a happy Mustang dyno here. 404rwhp on a Mustang dyno translates to about 440-450rwhp on a Dynojet and we all know a mild cam and catback only LS6 is not anywhere near capable of that.

I was expecting it to fall around 370 or so on the mustang. Really surprised when they told me the number they got! I also did not care about the horsepower number it produced, as long as it had great manners on the daily commute and felt strong. It did all of it very well!

The point I'm making is to take comments like yours with a grain of salt. Didn't say you were calling him a liar.

looks like a good clean setup..and every car is different...stock z06 make 365 to 375 stock to the wheels...so i am not shocked to see his numbers reading they way they are

Melting Slicks
Agree 403 on a Z06 with a good midrange cam is about right. With headers, he would be at about 420-425, which is pretty close on the mark.

And that's with a small cam - what if the cam was a stage 3 BTR, not even the stage 4. Plus a nice set of aftermarket heads (trick flow or afr's) & fast intake, headers. That car is chocking a bit without headers for sure.
It could hit 500 whp on a mustang Dyno. Whats that on a dyno jet?
Eating LS7's for breakfast. Wasn't 2002 Z06's the best year?

No, I can hear it, I know it's there, there's a difference albeit not drastic between the stock cam and this. However, I think the average guy who pulls up next to the Vette at a stop light in his Mustang, Porsche, etc. will not even realize the car is cammed. The trained ear knows it's there but I the untrained won't, atleast in my opinion. I personally think that's a good thing.
