Second sticky from the top of page; Build date/VIN of valve spring failures.

It's a nuisance, but not that big of a deal to do. Imagine dropping a valve, and the decision becomes easier.

It's on this forum. Google search C5 Z06 valve spring failures and it will come up. If memory serves correctly you are also in the high risk area.

NICE! Congrats! I just drove a highly modified C5 with a short throw shifter and hated every minute of it. Be sure to find somebody that has one and drive it before you do it.

I bought the MGW shifter and ordered it with the C6 handle so I could use the C6 ****. Much better looking than the C5 **** and the MGW is a work of art. I highly recommend it. I've had it in both the manual vettes I've owned and it's great.

why change the shifter at all? the stock shifter is terrific. you might want to drive it for awhile and get used to it first.

(or are you just talking about the shift ****?)

besides, look on the c5z fast list--the stock unit sure didn't impact the top dogs!

Ordered the ls2 beehive valve springs with trick-flo compressor from summit and the air valve holder from jegs for a total of $175.

Great buy! I bought my c5zo6 with 31k miles 3 months ago. I hated the stock shifter so i changed out the stock shifter with a mgw. Love it now. I have the hurst fat shift **** which ill be changing out for something smaller. My next move is to change out the seat. No support at all. I like all the positions of the electric seat but nothing helps to support. I already have a set of Recaro's from my previous car im going to use. Heres a pic of mine. Have fun!

For those who replaced the valve springs with the ls2 "beehive" springs, were you able to use the the stock valve shims? Or did you have to buy new ones?

I assume you are referring to retainers, not shims. They fit my new GM stock "blue" springs perfectly, and I reused my old keepers too. What is the GM part no. of your replacement spring set?

Yep. Thats the set I recently installed. Drop in replacements. You can reuse your hardware if you like. I I saw no reason not to. As mentioned in my earlier post, I also Installed rocker bushings while I had things apart. If you plan some sustained high RPM, you might think about that too.
