Z06 must haves!
Ok, I'm wondering what you Z06 guys feel are absolute musts when owning this car. As silly as it sounds I had to purchase a black Hurst shift **** the day after because thats always been the **** to have on a performance vehicle in my eyes and I did hate the looks of the original. Anyways, tell me what should go on the wish list please!

You are on the right track with the shift ****, stock one sucks.
The first major thing I did was custom wheels, but I do this with every car I buy.
I would also say headers and a catback exhaust with a tune really wakes the car up.

Agree on the ****, horrible thing it is. I went for a white 1 7/8" unit from Twistedshifterz, and also shortened the shaft.
Stubby antenna.
Headers.
Skip shift eliminator, but better to have it programmed out with header tune.
I also had my fans tuned to go on 10deg sooner.
K&N intake also done, but not a must.
Highly considering seats...

My biggest gripes were the shifter and the seats. I did MGW shifter and Corbeau A4 seats in microsuede (leather would be nice too).
I think a pair of longtube headers x x-pipe is great too. Sounds way better, even with the stock Ti exhaust.

Mine actually had long tube headers, Callaway CAI, stubby antenna, rims and a BM shifter when purchased from the seller. Said it had a tune also although I smell exhaust when it's running, not sure if that means I need to have it redone or not?

Exactly what takes place with a "tune", is the car's computer tuned for optimum performance especially after new installs like the headers and cold air intake? What could I expect to pay for a tune? Does someone recommend a shop near me in eastern Ohio, 30 minutes just south of Youngstown?

Funny enough, I actually like the stock shift ****. Not the way it looks, but it fits my hand nicely. I went to a c6 **** for a little bit, but it was way too small for my giant man paws.
For me there were no must haves, but i wanted a new shifter, long tubes, exhaust, and intake.

IIRC about $150 for most mail order tunes. If you buy headers from a particular shop, might be easier to get them to run the tune also. You have to remove and mail the PCM (behind inner fender, front passenger wheel well).
Can't help out with #3 question.

If you smell exhaust check to see if it has converters or not.
