Callaway Honker vs. SLP Blackwing
I would think the Honker would perform much better, as it's not taking in any hot air from the engine. I'm talking real street driving, not on the dyno. Thoughts? Obviously, the Honker is double the price. Worth it?

To me, the Honker is worth every penny.. I ran it for a season. I have also ran the VR, Currently running the Halltech and I am happy with it.
Call Corvettes of Dallas, ask for Jeff, Tell him you have a friend that picked up the Honker for $375... ( which is what I paid)... Only because I know him.. Try it, it may work for ya.

Is a tune needed wit the honker? I have an extended warranty, so I don't want to void that?

The Callaway Honker, in independent testing, was shown to deliver more power than the other one mentioned, and for a number of reasons.
First, it picks up air in a high pressure cavity, then ducts w/ a proper pathway over the radiator shroud, through the relocated MAF, to the TB.
Second, when most dyno "pulls" are made, the hood is up. Close the hood and any "wins" with the other, open filter design virtually go away. But with the Honker, hood down, it still made the power. And who drives in the real world with their hood up?
I hope this info helps. There's an article in Vette Magazine which chronicles the comparison.

As I said, I have ran VR and Honker on my car with hood closed! My hood blew off during that event.... The Halltech showed more HP/TQ on the dyno and at the track vs the other two. I am speaking from personal experience w my build... No need to to tit for tat and debate..... It's all about personal choice. Loved the Honker... But CHOSE the Halltech.

I don't drag race my car.... It's more of a roll race, 1/2 miler... On the dyno though w the Honker it made 535 to the tire... w the Halltech it made 550 ( at the time).. to be clear, mine is built. It is not a stock cubed motor, so .... Just throwing that out there.

I have been running the Honker for many years now. Totally satisfied. It works great and fits great. Easy to install and maintenance is a breeze. It looks like an OEM piece. Plus Callaway's service is great, after several years with mine theyreally stepped up when I had a problem and took care of it immediately. I found it worth every penny. It is still on my car many years later. There are very few true cold air intakes, only four that I know of. Callaway is the best IMO.
