c5 Z06 Good deal?
Hello forum members,
I'm back in the market for another corvette and as you can tell, a c5z. (Haven't fallen in love with my current gt500).
I'm curious to know, what's a good deal for these cars? What deals have you all gotten in the past year?
Just trying to gauge and see what are acceptable prices for X mileage and Y condition.
Thanks all

Mid to low mileage C5Z's in great condition are a good deal in the $19k-$24k range, with the 01's being the bottom of the barrel around $19k. ALL of them are worth having.

It really depends on the specific case. A babied Z is worth more than a beat one. In general I see 01 to 04 between 20k and 100k miles for anywhere from 18k to 25k. Really low miles like 3k to 10k as much a $30k. It just all depends what you want to spend. I bought a super clean well cared for 04 Z with 66k miles and it has been simply flawless. The fun factor is off the charts and it's very popular out in public. Get one. They're awesome cars and a total steal. Mine stickered for almost $50k new and sold for $21,600 in 2015. I love it! PS. Hurry up and buy one now before spring. Prices will go up.

Buy the 99 cent app called brzo and you can set up a daily automatic search in the app for c5 z06...
Fabulous real world insight..
I'd suggest 16 grand for an under 70k mile 2002 c5 z06 that I would target..
I loved my 2001 c5 Z06 but if I were to give my opinion I d go for the 2002 or newer..
The rings on my 2001 needed to be replaced in the first 10k miles by the GM warranty for oil consumption..
The 2002 brought in the 405 hp c5 z06...
I wouldn't go heavily modified ...but prefer near stock vehicles preowned...
Aftermarket cams need to have the valve springs replaced very 15k miles and aren't worth the hassle...(even with dual springs)
If I had to buy a modded c5 z06 with a mgw shifter....maybe bigger wheels and tires and maybe American racing headers but that's about it...
Good luck...I now drive a corvette z51 m6 c6 and in some ways the c5 z06 offers what I would suggest is more in line with a race car like driving experience and often miss that.
The c6 z51 m6 with npp and powered by an ls3 is priced about the same...
One positive note...is I have 104k miles on my purchased since new c6 as one of the most reliable and durable car I've ever owned.
I can't bring myself to sell this corvette...which is why I'm suggesting a near stock c5 z06 based off my cam, headers, 3.73 rear gear hurst shifter 2001 z06....honestly those mods were cool for the first ten thousand miles but the next forty thousand miles were chasing mod issues..
Hope this helps

AbsolutelyFANTASTIC advice!
Unfortunately I had a 05 c6 previously but it turned out to have more problems than any other car that I just couldn't justify fixing. And I love the raw driving of the c5z.
thanks everyone else also for the input, it's much nicer to have real world input bs whatdealers want on Autotrader etc

I would say it depends on your purpose for the car. Are you looking for a cheap buy to build a track car or a daily driver? In which case I would say a 75k mile example around $17-19k would be a good deal. Are you looking for a pristine garage queen for a collection? In that case I would say $23-26k would be would a deal on a low mileage mint car. Me personally I was looking for a low mileage stock Z06. I found a 10k mile 02' in July and snagged it for under $25k. I fall in neither category. No track car or no garage queen. Just wanted a clean Z06 to drive on weekends and on weeknights.

Where in the world are you getting that price for an 01 with less than 75k miles?? Please don't corrupt the OP. That '01 would go for at least 16k and probably more towards 17k.

I must agree, I've yet to see anything in my area atleast (Florida) for under 17k regardless of miles. Seems like 17-24k depending on miles seems to be the norm? Which isn't too far off what I'm finding on Autotrader anyways..
but it sounds like everyone who owns a c5z loves it regardless of how much they pay.
thanks for all the input so far guys keep it up!

I've looked all over the country since I'm in the market to buy a 2nd ZO6 right now. This is definitely the case. Currently negotiating with a dealer on a 47k mile mint 01 Z for $19k. It's a fair deal for that car from a dealer. You MIGHT get it cheaper private party by a little...but for the topic $17k-$25k is spot on for the range of Z's in good condition.

Look at ebay with the "sold" listings filter to see actual selling prices, versus asking prices (anyone can ask any price they want, doesn't mean it's going to sell at that price).
There's already a whole discussion here:

My actual market data analysis (versus just observational like some others here) leads to the following summary on pricing:
There's already a whole discussion here:

My actual market data analysis (versus just observational like some others here) leads to the following summary on pricing:
2002-2004 Z06s, clean (not mint) and mileage below 50k: $20-25k
mileage between 50k and 80k: $16k-$20k
mileage 80k+:$14k-18k
Mint condition/garage queen: Add $2-4k (only worth it if you plan to keep it a garage queen, not as a driver).
2001 Z06: Subtract around $3k from above figures.
Don't forget that asking prices do not equal selling prices (people always negotiate down), just like with homes. If you want to see a real market analysis, do an ebay search for z06's and use the "sold listings" filter to see actual selling prices:
http://www.ebay.com/sch/Cars-Trucks/...Corvette%20z06
If someone can find better market data of actual selling prices (versus anecdotal, one-off example of asking prices), I'm all ears, but I think this actual data closes the case.
