how the car was driven and is another big one. some 100k cars feel like new, some are just beat. rattles. shifting is off. steering is off. there's just a HUGE condition difference as the miles go on depending on where the car lived and how it was maintained

also where i would sell it
as long as it's not yellow on red. that color combo is terrible to sell. silver is also a bit hard. black, blue or red. easy

For example I paid 17,700 for my 03 Z06 and it is very tastefully modified with 79k miles. I bought it going into the winter months and I did the valve springs myself. The car is VERY clean and has black interior/torch red exterior. If I priced my car to sell in the spring I would want 21k for it and I would hold out for that price.

I just bought an 03 with 20k miles, Magnuson supercharged with LT headers for 22k. Had to travel to get it. Needed tires, valve spring, and harmonic balancer.
Basically every 10k miles, the price goes down $1k. Get a low mileage one, there is no curve, it's $1k every 10kmiles. It may need valve spring and balancer but you get one in great condition.

sorry for turning into a ghost guys and gals.
unfortunately, the car leaks fluid from the transmission and i am getting mixed answers on how much it leaks. owner says it barely leaks but the inspector said it leaked enough to drip fluid on the ground during the inspection. also, neither the owner nor the inspector popped the fill plug off to obtain an estimate of what the fluid level was. if the fluid level is actually low, the next question is how long has it been like that? inspector said the trans was notchy (no mention of aftermarket shifter) so im not sure if this trans is on the way out. however, the inspector said he is used to driving c6s which i guess shift easier. im not sure as ive never driven a c6
the car needs all new tires as they are from 2008 so thats about 800 bucks at a minimum
the car is running yellow valve springs. i can get a replacement spring kit for about 100 bucks.
I cant go look at it myself this saturday and the seller works on sunday.
also, the seller is finicky on price. one moment the price is X, the next moment it is X+400, the next moment it is x+200.

below is the matrix I made using KBB private party in august 2016 when I was looking for a c5z. I found KBB private sale price is about what the selling rate was.
you can see there is about $1k difference between a 2002 and a 2003 (with same mileage ) and a little more depreciation between an 03 and 04 (same mileage). Depreciation slows obviously with age. So basically you should plan to loose about $100 a month in value IF YOU DON'T DRIVE IT.
for every 10,000 miles you should plan to pay/loose about $1,000, or about 10 cents a mile. So technically the depreciation rate is .10 a mile and $100 a month, or if driver 10k miles a year, it comes out to about $0.20 a mile.
I bought a low mileage 03 c5z because the mileage depreciation is linear, meaning $1k per 10,000 across the scale. Some cars the price is higher for 10k miles, the lower the mileage. I figured it would be better having a low mileage car all things being equal, just meant that a few thousand $ of my money would be tied up in the car and recoverable when I sold it. There would also be less farts in the seat lol.
I know it's kind of ****, but you have to look at this kind of thing. I newer car would have much more depreciation (my 2012 silverado for example). So it's technically cheaper for me to drive the vette =)
in 9/2016 I paid $22k for an 03 c5z with 18,000 miles with LT headers, corsca, and Magnusson supercharger, which is a really good deal. Although I did have to go to Canada to get it. Yes, Canada. I had to put on 4 tires (costco), valve springs, and a crank balancer pulley. Hope this helps someone.

today that's not far off but kbb has been all over the map being really high, then really low and now somewhere in the middle. it's still unlikely to find a NICE 80k 02 for 15.6 as it's below what many have sold for at auction. a rough one, sure.
prices also haven't really moved in the past 5 years. search through some threads from 2012 and you will see similar prices to today all else equal
NADA clean trade tracks the manheim market report and historically has been the most accurate gauge of private party actual value out of all the books. some cars go higher, some lower, just depends
kbb on the other hand has literally had 5k swings in a single month

rewind to 2012 and you would see a 100k mile 02 in reasonable shape for 15k, a mint one {for that mileage} at 16k and an 03 would be +1000 on avg
that's basically the same price as today
ultra low mile cars like the 04z CE have sold 30-35k with under 10k miles since at least 2010. one with 1200 miles may get 35k and one around 10k would get 30., pretty stable and they sell for that even on ebay. even at 100k miles an 04z CE can close 18-19k which is substantially higher than the 02-03z. then again it is a CE but even a standard 04z all else equal out paces the 02-03
this is a GREAT car to drive value wise. you lose very little with age....at least so far. can't see the future

Thanks for everyone's posts on this thread. I will be selling my 2002 ZO6 (EB, HUD, 30K miles, pretty clean) soon and was wondering about how to price it.

I am shopping for a C5Z and am looking at a couple and it has come down to talking about price with one of the owners. I was wondering what tools everyone is using to determine fair market values of these vehicles? I dont want to over pay. I also dont want a good deal to slip through my fingers because Im not considering all of the information when trying to determine what a fair price for both parties is.
I am aware that with used vehicles, the value of the vehicle is what someone is willing to pay.
At the moment, I've been using Edmunds for my pricing gauge as they give a private party value.
Thank you and I look forward to your responses.

14k is a good price i think. i got my 01 for 17.5 with 55k all stock minor scuffs on the paint and flawless interior only mods were t1 shocks springs sway bars and upgraded brakes. i would double check that there are no water leaks.mine leaked like a sieve.i repaired all the leaks myself. didnt cost much but was labor intinsive and a PITA

Safety Car
Keep this in mind one day you might want to sell it and if got over 100,000 on it when you buy it well its going to have more on it when you want to sell it , will be harder to sell a little more money and a few less miles be better off , got to look at the big pic. But if just trying to get into a Corvette for cheap go for it ..

A out of the box GM HOT ROD ,lots of Corvette for the money . I think what people are not doing they are not comparing the C5-Z Corvettes to other cars with the same power looks handling and on and on if so would see what they are getting for there money and realize WHAT a Deal ,hold it there is nothing to compare it to never mind.. ..
