Wife suggested trading the C5Z for a '17 ZL1. Thoughts?
While watching a review this morning, my wife said, "that has a backseat, right?" I think you know where this is going.
I have an '02 C5Z (44k miles) that is more or less stock. I drive it on the weekends and at the track. She has voiced her displeasure with the interior and "rough" ride several times, and when I told her it had adjustable suspension, she was in.
thoughts?

I would say HELL YES lol. If you had a CE c5z or a high horsepower one i would say think twice, but a stock 02 c5z vs the new zl1, i would pick the zl1. The lt4 plus the agressive looks of zl1 makes the car a winner in my books. The new zl1 is a beast.

Aside from the price, I can't think of a reason not to. And the fact my wife actually suggested it makes me think I should pull the trigger soon. Haha.
In all seriousness, I think I'd save for a bit and combine that with the sale of the Vette for the down payment.

Everything in and around Los Angeles is marked way up. I'll start shopping in a few months. I usually wait til the next model year is about to show up and then I buy 😀 plus I'm only 1 track day into a fresh set of R888 tires.

Don't count on the backseat as anything more than a parcel shelf though.

Ours is a different situation; mine is my DD spring thru fall. So my wife is rarely in it. The ride doesn't bother her when she is tho.
I say if you like the ZL1 more, and the payment is reasonable, then go for it. If your wife is rarely in it though, I don't see any concern if you prefer the C5Z.

there is one problem with the zl1. Its a camaro. it is as big as a house. it will by no way feel like a c5z. it is heavy as hell. Only a corvette will be a corvette. I have had 1200 hp pony cars... it was still a pony car. you will miss that c5z. stick a blower on it and go dust off a zl1.

To me the cars are apples vs doritos. It's like asking to go from Z06 to a duramax. The vehicle targets a different audience, comes with a different driving experience, and in the end...is that difference worth the cost that comes with it?
To me, the apples to apples, is do you go C7 Grand Sport vs C5Z...that's a comparison for the same ZL1 money. ZL1 is a great car, but it's not a Corvette. I personally don't like how they feel from the drivers seat vs the Corvette, nor do I like the "SRT4" factor, which is...stick a cool motor in a neon and charge 3x the msrp. Don't get me wrong, I do love the new Camaro, and they've fully got my attention BUT the Corvette is a more relevant sports car, while the Camaro is somewhat of a bandwidth machine...if you catch my drift.
End of day, stick hp in anything and Americans want it. To me, the Camaro/Mustang/Challenger/Charger has mastered taking a run of the mill chassis, sticking some power in it, and calling it a supercar. That's not to say they aren't great cars for the money, but I'm just NOT payin north of 45 grand for a Camaro...aint' happenin.

Yes, the Grand Sport is only a few thousand more, but the ZL1 is actually faster around Willow Springs. What is the most tempting is a C7 Z51 for $10-15k less than the Grand Sport, but again is a harder sell to the wife than a car with a backseat (however minimal it may be).
She even tried to get me to pull the trigger on an M3 at one point.
