Its a thicker oil which makes it more viscous than the 5w-30.

I use Amsoil ZRod 10/30 and oil pressure is much higher when hot than Mobil1 5/30

Read somewhere that M1 10-W30 has better all around properties than 5-W30. Can't remember the specifics but sure someone will chime in.

If you track your car a lot a more viscous oil helps with absorbing heat and it can protect your engine better. Depending on engine clearances a thicker oil can also rob some power. Honestly with todays oil technology you cant really go wrong with any kind of oil you choose.

it does
it also is not thicker
it has fewer viscosity modifiers which make it more stable at high heat and under pressure
at operating temp there is no difference between 5-30 and 10-30
5-30 would be preferred if you drive in freezing or under temperatures due to the cold flow starting to become noticeable

No problem running 10W/30 in LS engines. I personally like Mobil One 0W/40. Great cold flow & high temp protection.

I run AMSOIL 10W40 and have been for years, as recommended by the AMSOIL rep that's a member here.

If you don't drive in very cold weather 10W30 is good.
