[Z06] headliner repair

headliner repair
Has anyone ever tried repairing the headliner in a Z06 or a FRC? the backing in mine is falling apart in my Z06. I know they are about impossible to find. I was thinking of trying to repair the edges that are falling apart with fiberglass or something and getting it recovered. Has anyone ever tried anything like that before?

I did what you are describing. I have an 03z that I modified the headliner to be like the 01-02 headliner. You can pull it down and recover. I actually did all the fiberglass work and then took it to an upholstery shop and had them tack the martial down so that it would look nice.

Drifting
I have an '02 Z with low miles and the headliner is falling down on both sides by the doors where you get in. I am all ears on an appropriate fix for this and thanks for the tip so far!

The shell board gets brittle and could be broken on the edges. Take it down, remove the material, and add fiberglass on any broken / weak areas. You can buy the headliner material at a fabric store. Gluing the material and tucking it nicely is a trick, I paid someone to do this for me.
