2003 16k mile Z06 with original tires!
So when I was under my car two weekends ago installing the shift CAGS eliminator I looked at the manufacturing date on the inside wall of my F1 Supercar tires. 4802...Holy crap!! These are the original tires made the 48th week of 2002. My car was produced in March 2003 so that makes sense. I guess I should have figured that out when buying the car when it only had less than 16k miles on it. Looking to get some NT05s as soon as I get some more cash saved up. Until then taking it easy...

I bought my 03 18k miles with original fronts. Be careful, that's what allegedly got Paul Walker. His buddy just took delivery of a low mileage gt3 with original tires. I read the curve they bit it was just behind their shop and they took it fast all the time with other cars and good tires. The gt3 also has no stability control!

back in 2009 when i got my 02 z it had original tires on it as well...
downright dangerous. the car would push the tires stright making a U turn. and break the tires loose VERY easily.

Ditto here. When I purchased my 2004 C5Z in 2009 it had the original rubber on it. The car had only 9k miles. Coming off of an interstate jug handle I hit it in second gear and broke the tires loose almost losing the car into a guardrail.
Either my Vette had super power OR something was up with the tires. I took the time to really look at them and they were as hard as a rock.
Replaced with Bridgestone Potenzas.......Wow what a difference. The grip was awesome compared to what I experienced.
Just be careful with old tires.....check them carefully and replace as necessary. Be Safe!

Mine actually aren't that hard. The first owner only put 2,800 miles on it in 9 1/2 years so I assume it was a garage queen. The tread is getting low and I know the rubber is too old to be safe. I'm not planning on doing much highway driving till I replace them this summer. I just need to save up some more cash because I've dumped about $1500 on it with tag/title/tax, front tires, fixing the ECBM, repairing curb rash on front wheels, and buying a few other goodies for it.

better choices exist now. the nt05 is decent if you only drive in the warm dry but the t1s is much better in rain, cooler temps, also very good in the dry, limits may be a hair short of the nt05 but it's very predictable.
is this car a garage ornament or are you starting to drive it more and get some use from it?

In 2014, I bought a "new" 2004 Z/16. It had under 100 miles on it. I thought I might just scrub off some of the old rubber and get down to some new material once I took delivery.
Sanity prevailed once I drove it and I decided to get some Bridgestone's. The Paul Walker tragedy is something no one wants to repeat.

Good to know. I did find on their website they have two different compounds in the NT05 for our rear size. One is 140 and the tire is slightly wider the other is 200 and slightly taller. The 140 compound is about $25-30 more per tire.

I just mounted these very tires (140 compound). I haven't drivem the car much since yet but initial impressions are very good! These things are sticky and look good too.

I never knew they had two different tread ware compounds in the NT05. I've been running the 200 treadware in 275/295's for 5 years now, love these tires. May go with the 140 treadware in the back next time. Good to know!

I bought them through a local speed shop here in Canada so pricing will differ than you. We did get them direct from Nitto in California.
I will get some close up pics of the rears and post up.
