anybody got torque spec for the 4 shifter plate bolts?
going to install a mallet shifter in my Z tonight and after searching all the shifter install posts i didn't see any torque ratings for the 4 bolts that hold the shifter plate. i don't have a service manual yet, so is there a number or should i just snug 'em up?
thanks,
patrick

I just put in the Hurst and the directions said 8 to 10 lbs for the new bolts that come with it. I just tightened them though, as they are hex key bolts and I didn't have a driver that would work with my torque wrench.

Patrick,
The (2003) manual shows four four shift control closeout boot nuts - if that's what you mean, they need 106 lb in. It also shows two shift control assembly (shifter) mounting bolts - 22 lb ft torque.
Hope that helps. :seeya

Re: anybody got torque spec for the 4 shifter plate bolts? (ppk1911)
gentlemen,
thanks much for the replys-- i've got the thing torn apart right now and i came in to look up the purpose of the rubber band around the linkage and console stud-- found a post regarding that-- no worries. anyway, there were 4 bolts holding the shifter plate to the cast aluminum housing and i used my torque wrench to take them off and found them to be around 7lb/ft. the 4 studs/nuts holding the rubber boot on i didn't bother measuring and will just snug back up.
i need to get a service manual, but the $106 my dealer wants for one seems a bit steep-- anybody know where to get one on the net?
best regards,
patrick
