Z06 owners with tire pressure sensors please read...
I attempted to have a Chevrolet service center install the tire pressure sensors on my '02 Z06.
They contacted GM for assistance because they had problems trying to install them on my car. They said they had attempted to install the sensors on two other Z06 cars. The first one they may have had the wrong sensors the 2nd car had problems later and they un-installed it.
According to the service center the valve stems are too long and there is a very real possibility of them breaking off. For this reason they said they would not assume the liability of installing the sensors. They tried it but were not successful as it sounds like the stems stick out so if you got close to a curb it could catch the valve stem..
They said they would be happy to enable the LTPWS if I found someone else willing to install the sensors.
Anyone with sensors: do they stick out? Do you have a photo of the stem??

This sounds like the dealer is giving you a load of bull. I think they are trying to cover their butt's for liability or something. Just have them turn it on and have discount tire put the sensors in!

I have them installed on my Z06, did the install myself. In order for them to catch the curb I would have to abrade half the tire and part of the rim. They are stock GM sensors in Z06 chrome rimes. It works with no problem, you are being fed a line of :bs .

Thanks for the replies guys...I thought this service center was "cool" but apparently not....
I heard you need to install new o-ring seals? Anyone have a part number or are they basic parts any tire service center would have???

The "O" rings, really those rubber washers dod not need to be replaced unless they are chewed up. They can not be bought seprate from the sensors at GM but you can go to home depot and get some rubber washers that come close.

This morning I looked closer at the tire pressure sensors I bought along with the special nuts. I'm like WTF!!! They told me they tried one of them but couldn't get it installed. Funny how they tried one but not one bag had been opened....liars! :mad Can't wait for the satisfaction survey I'll be getting in the mail!!!!
