Re: Halltech Z06 Red Kevlar FRCs-First set out of the autoclave (RPO_Z06)
The Kevlar Units are very expensive due to the material. $499.00 for the set.
We can make the Z06 Carbon Red covers for $389.00 through the 10th. They go up at that time. The $389.00 is a mold recapture price only. The new pricing will be $489.00 on the 10th.
What folks don't realize, is each time we crank up the autoclave (20X10) with 100 PSI Nitrogen, it costs $900. The heat and pressure make these the real deal. Other covers are wanta-bes, made by cold layups and some are clear sprayed to make them shiny. They yellow and crack with heat.
The way we make our parts is the exact manner in which Formula One, Indy, and Pro-stock engine and body parts are made.

Not to diss the products, but Im struggling to find the appeal of this carbon fiber craze. Big pieces where less weight and more strength come into play (ala hood, etc.) I can see... but frc's, intake ducts, etc. ? Is it just the pattern that everyone likes?

Alex,
Alex, I understand what your saying. Will these pieces add HP or Tq, nope. Will they quicken times, don't think so, not that much weight difference.
Do they look good... :yesnod: You could ask why we choose different wheels? Why do we paint anything under the hood? It shows off the mechanical piece of artwork below! Why do we paint the FRCs, the water resevoir or the windshield washer tank? Because it helps us indiviudalize our rides and also shows off the pride we have in them.
When you compare the prices some folks have paid for the painted versions of the FRCs then the prices Jim's charging for his CF versions don't seem that bad. Both the painted and CF pieces are works of art. Its your personal choice which you want, if any, to accent your ride.
Sorry, didn't mean to get on a soapbox.
Here is another pic Jim sent me of the Kevlar FRCs.

I hear ya. Nothing wrong with customizing. Nothing wrong with painted things under the hood. But these true carbon fiber pieces are so pricy and basically all you are benefitting over a stock, painted piece is the black line pattern. Like you said the weight difference, if any, is very very minimal. Sorry to hi-jack the thread

Hey, you know the old saying: "To each his own" If I didn't have a set of CF covers already I would be all over the black ones.

yes, I know that saying. I never said the people who like these are fools. Everyone has a right to like or dislike this product, I was simply trying to find the reasoning to like it. whatever floats your boat.

:boxing :jester Alex, just kidding!
I think Jim Hall is working on larger pieces that will make a difference in weight. To work toward real weight reduction I guess we need to come up with a list of components that could be converted to CF. The hood is the most obvious. Dashboard and console are possiblilities but I don't know what the overall weight savings would be since they are mostly plastic. I guess when you add up the savings in ounces they will eventually add up to pounds, but that translates to dollars.

Our Carbon/Lemans Blue Tunnel Ram Air PaK, Tunnel Port, and FRCs should be done today.
This color is my favorite. This entire system has been sold to Motorsport Image in Sacramento, CA
