[Z06] 100% stock 03' Z06 1/4 mile results

100% stock 03' Z06 1/4 mile results
Brand new 03' Z06- 900 miles
100% stock- Stock tire pressure, 1/4 tank of fuel, stock weight, etc right off the showroom floor stock
Weather-
74 degrees
61 relative humidity
Absolute Barometer 30.97
Strong cross wind
Made a total of 16 runs, its now broke in
My best run was-
60'- 1.952
1/4th- 12.647
mph- 112.19
I was real happy with the 60', disappointed with the mph but happy with the et for the low mph. The best mph I had for the day was 113.73 but I blew the 60'....
My goal is 12.4's@115mph, you think this is possible with more break in miles and better weather, track conditions?? I was speed shifting no power shifting. I want to get these times 100% bone stock

Nice start!! You will see higher mph with stronger quicker shifts. The weather you listed was much better than avrage, 30.97 is big. Keep it up, drag raceing is one of the few leagle escapes left. Ric

Great 60' time, nice run. Your MPH is about right for a stock 02+ Z06.

I ran 16 times so I did a lot of experimenting. This car was much more difficult to launch then my f-body. For my best 60' times that ranged from 1.95-2.05 I would skip the water box, and just spin the tires to the line then bring the car to 2,300-2,500 then slip the clutch and at the same time pedaling the gas to control tire spin till I could go wot throttle. This worked the best for the car and me.
I experimented launching the car by dumping the clutch from rpm ranges of 2,500-3,000 but that resulted in either the car bogging big time, or massive wheel hop...so I wouldn't recommend launching that way.

Mine ran about like yours when it was COMPLETELY stock. Now, its got around 5,400 miles, no air lid and is much faster. In this trim, it feels about like Dave Hill advertises, 12.4@116, before, my one and only day at the drags was around 12.9@113. It really didn't feel broke in until around 4,500 iles.

Re: 100% stock 03' Z06 1/4 mile results (Power Shifter)
Goducks, You didn't mention how long you have been dragging but if you are a beginner those numbers are pretty impressive. Good 60' times. Although the mph in the 112-113 range is a little slow for a '02 and up Z06. Try changing at what rpm you shift. You also need a litttle more "break in" time. I agree in not dropping the clutch as you smash the throttle...total bogging.
My first time at the track with my bone stock '02 went as follows
R/T .756
60' 2.154
1/4 12.619
MPH 114.61
Since I have added the cyclone intake, Halltech MAG air bridge , Magnaflow x-pipe, 178therm and fancontroller Carnow runs in the 12.1-12.3 range. So there is certainly room for improvements with some bolt-ons.

Sounds like you may be short shifting a bit. Make sure you hold 3rd gear almost to redline. Your 60' times look good. Make sure you are going to at least 6200 (I prefer right to redline, but a slow shift can cause you to hit the limiter). Keep up the good work.

Have any of you gentlemen tried BFG G-Force street slicks? I have a 03' Z06 with 2300miles and I'm considering going back to the track after a 15yr hiatus.

Re: 100% stock 03' Z06 1/4 mile results (jim-b-sr)
That is a very good run
My car ran an almost identical time slip at 350 miles stock ( I did use my old Ripper )
12.6/112/2.0
I actually came to the track with a full tank but my rear tire pressure was at 24 pounds and the front was at 36.
As J- Rod stated, taking the RPM's to redline is crucial to improving your trap speed.
I'm going to the track tonight w/ 1700 miles so I'm anxious to see if she's any stronger.
Good luck ...and nice driving! :)

Have a Blackwing and a carbon airbox and 9,500 miles on mine and did 12.66 secs 108MPH ET on my first run. I got as fast as 114 during the day, but never beat 12.66 secs, kept running 12.77-12.92 all day after the first run.
Dropeed the rear pressures to 26 psi and jacked the fronts to 36 psi.
Weather was 75-85 degrees and dry.
