The UPF44 is a superior oil filter to the PF46. You can get the UPF44's from gmpartsdirect.com. They are $6/each. Your best bet is to buy 6 of them to save on the freight costs. Cost for 6 is $43.95 (freight included).

Do you happen to have the part number for the UPF44 filter, so I can order some from gmpartsdirect?

TIA,

Bob

And why is the UPF44 superior to the PF46?

The UPF44 uses synthetic medium from what I've heard and the PF46 is just an updated version, if not the same filter as the PF44, with a different part number.

Basically the UPF44 uses better filtering material.

So if the PF46 is an updated version (or the same with a new part number), I would think it is superior or equal. I'm a bit lost here.

Let's try again...

There was always a PF44 with "standard filtering capabilities". Delco produced the UPF44 as a premium, higher quality filter.

Now, the PF46 comes along, which is in essence a replacement for the stock filter (PF44), with standard filtering capabilities.

So the PF44 and PF46 are the same filter (Standard type), but the PF46 is the replacement to the PF44. What about it changed over the PF44?

And the UPF44 is a premium filter.

I've not seen a PF44 with my own eyes. AC Delco stopped making the PF44 and the PF46 has superceded it.

More than likely, there is probably some minor dimensional differences between the PF44 and PF46 and rather than make two different filters that would be interchangeable, they decided to drop one of them.

If you really want the PF44, you can probably find some still on the shelfs somewhere.

The PF46 Part number is 88984215. I also get my filters from GMPartsDirect.com :flag

P.S. The PF 46 replaced PF44 as stated above

Fastlane,
I must be having a senior moment. The web "gmpartsdirect" is one of the most difficult webs to use I've ever loged into. Is the info you listed above for UPF44 filters or UP44 filters? I went to the web, did a search on the part number you listed & it did not state the filter type!

Do any of the Corvette Forum supporting venders sell UPF44 Filters???  :mad :mad :mad :mad
