Default Got windows tinted...damn dot matrix!!

I got the windows tinted in the C6 and the tint guy couldn't get the tint to adhere all the way to the dot matrix, soooo...now I have to take it back to him and he said he would try using vinyl over it. He said if the vinyl doesn't work he would have to paint the window!?!?!!

Is it really that big of a problem to tint the rear glass on a C6?

I hope that vinyl works.

Common problem with C5's also. Some painted them, others sanded them down.

Don't let him paint it! My installer used the equivalent of saran wrap cut to the shape of the largest portion of "dots" THEN put the tint over it. He explained the plastic is thinner than the tint and will fill the void between dots. The tint can then bind to the "raised" plastic with no problem. Did it three weeks ago and looks great. (Guaranteed for life also). Paid $237 for the whole thing.

Here's the info on my dealer in case your installer wants to ask.

Northwest Florida Window Tint Inc.
850-244-6363
BTW, these guys have been in business for over 15 years and (before they got smart) tried painting and even sanding matrix dots.

Just checking up since its been a while...any problems with the Nav working if you have it after the tinting. Read the FAQs and everything just looking for more opinions.

No problem here. Installer used NON-metallic tint.

Oh there is no risk of that happening, believe me.

I had the "dot" area painted in on both my C5 and C6.

It conceals the dots perfectly and only cost an extra $40.00.

I love it!

That has always bugged me especially since I show my cars..I use black 3M vinyl on mine on the very top of the rear window...and it works fine. Let him do the vinyl. It will do the trick!! You have to wait a few days 'til the tint dries.

Ahmad

EDIT: also, there shouldn't be an extra charge if he carries vinyl. Or you can just buy it and he can install it...but if he does charge you...it will be $15 if that!! It is the easiest and safest way...works perfect. I have done it on my last 4 cars I had tinted!!

I took it back today. He cut the tint off the dot matrix and replaced it with black vinyl. Looks much better now.

They used black vinyl on my dots. From the outside you can't tell.

I have a C5...thought they would have changed this on the C6. I can't stand the way mine looks.
