Default Went car shopping I checked out a 2000 NSX and C6 Corvette... My thoughts

On a recent post i told you guys i am going to be purchasing a car so starting yesterday i checked out two cars.

1. Acura NSX

First up was the NSX I got to the dealer finding the Nsx it it' car cover obviously the only car in the show room with a car cover. I went with a girlfriend of mine so I can get her opinions, So off the car cover and inside was a Beautiful Dark Silver 2000 NSX auto. I have to admit it looks totally different from pictures, Car looks very exotic interior is something to brag about you feel high class it also has paddle shifters! I got my girls opinion and she told me that it's a very nice car, Cocky, High class and so on. I almost fell in love I even had dreams about it today. But I had to see the C6 corvette

2. C6 Corvette

So I ran to the dealer that had the c6 saw a c6 across the street and gave it a look. I was talking to the guy about it and he went back and fourth saying the z06 is better than the c6 I kind of agreed but I’m not sure I think it can "maybe go head to head" My girls opinion "I don't like the c6" Even the rep working there says he doesn't like it. But I didn't let that stop me from checking out the new C6. My Impressions the interior Top notch in my opinion I felt like I was inside of a Porsche, Engine is smooth not loud sounds really good surprised there is 400HP in that car. I was really surprise on how the door opens too! It's like a button lol push button ignition it felt really good inside lots of comfort. I wasn't that impressed by the body style maybe because the color was red the black in the showroom looked pretty good and my girl agreed. So right now i have mixed feelings about the car.

3. Conclusion

The Winner of that night by me, my grandpa, and my girl was the NSX. I kept asking them what was the best car, what impressed them etc i made sure and asked a second time they all agreed with the NSX. Looked really good although i don't agree with the price but sure is a show stopper. I still wouldn't mind if i get a c6 i know whats under the hood and could kill the nsx in a heart beat.

4. What's next

What’s next? You guessed it the C5 Corvette The rep in that place kept telling me give the c5 a chance it's the same as the c6 not much of a difference. My girl says that the C5 is a better looking car; the rep said this is the best time to get a c5. So it looks like the C5 is the number 1 contender against the NSX we'll have to see I’m pretty excited I don't even want to go to school! lol I will post what my family thinks.

Are you buying it or is someone else footing the bill? If you are buying it go with your feelings, the vette is the bang for the buck.

I wonder how many will get C5's and shoe horn in a C6 Z06 engine. Now you talking. But whatever you choose you'll have a nice car for sure.

I've had two NSX's and they are great cars. It was designed by Honda F1 engineers and they did a typically beautiful job.

If your purchasing for power, you will be sadly dissappointed in the NSX. If you wish to race on twisties or drag again you will be sadly dissappointed.
If your looking for a fairly rare "sports" car the NSX should be fine.

OK, here's what I think, based upon quite a few years of road course driving: the NSX is a gutless wonder. It's a very attractive car, for sure. But, as the old lady in the Wendy's commercials used to ask, "Where's the beef?!" It's all show, and very little go. The power-to-weight just isn't in the NSX's favor. Nor does it handle as well as a C5 (let alone a brand new C6.)

So, buy the NSX if you're all show and no go. If you want a classy interior wrapped in a sexy body, the NSX is definitely one way to go. But you're going to be staring at tail lights if you happen to come up against (even stock) Corvettes.

In the end, we buy things based upon the value they represent to us as individuals. The NSX represents no value to me, whatsoever. I'd have never even considered it.

ps - and if your "rep" said there's not much difference between a C5 and a C6, he's a moron...

(too).

If you want to have a 90,000 dollar look at me but OMG please don't ask me to go to the track because i will be humiliated car get the NSX. But if you want a car that will also turn lots and lots of heads and have the power to back it up get the Vette, IMO there is no bigger waste for a car purest than the NSX because so much money for so little go.

That is total, total

I've owned five C5's and as nice as they were, the C6 is a much different and better car.

The NSX's styling is a bit long in the tooth for my taste and the interior feels cramped to me.

The Vette offers a more attractive (purely subjective), powerful and, at least for the time being, novel package at an unbeatable price. It is arguably the best sports car value in the world.

I would think the main incentive for purchasing an NSX over the Vette is the lack of having to play 5 of 6 chambers loaded Russian roulette with typically substandard American QC which the Vette is clearly not immune to.

My 1998 Supra TT handles every bit as good as the NSX and has similar performance (albiet a little faster) and it was 1/2 the price. The NSX is nice too look at. Both are fairly rare, siding with the NSX for exclusivity.

My C6 is light years better than both. My Supra seems very boring to drive now and easily has its doors blown off by the Vette. Sitting side-by-side, my Supra now looks "Old School". I like the modern look of the C6 much better.

The NSX is a very classy and desirable car, with great handling, but decidedly underpowered.

The NSX is a very classy and desirable car, with great handling, but remains decidedly underpowered.

The C5 is not as classy, is much more common, and on the C6 forum, not as desirable. It has good handling and power. Its looks are definitely classic, with few complaints from anyone.

The C6 is quite new and desirable, with rarity somewhere between the two above cars. It has great handling, and is overpowered. Its looks seem to be more controversial. There is a serious upgrade in almost everything when you go from C5 to C6.

If price is the object, go C5.
For aura and exclusivity go NSX.
Get the C6 if you want the best car.

If its LOOKS get the C5, hands down the cooler looking ride.
