Is the Corvette an "Old Man's Car"
I just finished reading “Letters to the editor” in Corvette Mag” were a reader
Writes that kids these days don’t think Corvettes are cool and that they prefer HIS Rx7.
He thinks the Corvette has become a “Buick” , an old man’s sports car.
Well has the Corvette become an OLD Man’s car, if so why do you think this is true?
I personally think this is but since I fit the old guy category maybe I am biased.
I have been a Corvette fan since I was 9 years old, and I know many kids who think
The Corvette, all generations, are cool.
What do you think and where are you on the old man curve?

Making CFOT Great Again
I love my C6 for what it is - not for who else drives one or what other people think.

A wise man once said: "You can sell an old man a young man's car, but you can't sell a young man an old man's car." If Corvette were an old man's car, only old men would own them.
I hope that clarifies my position.

Corvette legend and history appeal to a wide range of the public. I'm happy to be part of it having admired Corvettes for a long time.
Writers are amazing people who almost never have to spend their own money to enjoy great cars and then write their thoughts and impressions. They are not philosophers nor necessarily wise, just lucky.
Don't make the mistake of believing his opinion is worth any more than anyone else who has one, here in this forum or anywhere else in society.

I think it's comical that some people believe that one car is designed for women, another for gays, and yet another for real men. I buy cars that I like and I couldn't care less how that purchase is perceived by others. Hell it's hard enough getting the right car for me without having to worry about how that choice will be perceived by others.

Last Saturday, I drove my brand-new Mag Red convertible to the shopping center. A 15-year-old kid on a bike made it a point to yell to me, "I love your car."
With age comes wisdom, taste, and affluence. Perhaps that's why most of us Vette owners are old farts!

Most of my fellow residents at the nursing home here are also driving Corvettes. We have all found that there's plenty of room for our walkers in the hatch area...folded, of course. Most of us have upgraded to the Corsa exhaust system because we have trouble hearing the stock sytem. The automatic is preferred by most, but not all, because some of the guys can't lift their legs high enough to work the clutch.
The chicks here really dig the Vette, if they can see it. On some of the more passionate evenings, it's common to take the walker out of the hatch area so we have more room for our romantic encounters...if you know what I mean.
It's even more fun in the warm weather when five or six of us will head out to help take the roof panel off for one of us. Nothing like a little toupee turbulence to help keep you awake while driving.
So sonny, don't worry about age. Just enjoy the ride while you still can.

Safety Car
It's definitely an old man's car. How else can I possibly explain all those kids with their faces pressed up to the glass looking at my car as I pass them? I can read their minds......"that is the coolest old man's car I've ever seen!" RX7? It's ok - perhaps a little overstyled, but not cool in a Corvette way.

sounds to ME like the writer was an rx7 driver that couldn't afford a corvette. simple. *shrugs*
and, FWIW... i got compliments everyDAY... literally.. on our corvette. and, most of them, come from the 18 to 25 year old crowd. mostly because that's the bulk of my friends... but NEVER have i heard, gee.. it's nice but it's an old man's car.

Last night, one of my son's friends (an 18 year old girl) told me my Mag Red vert was the coolest car she'd ever seen. If that's an old man's car, bring it on . .

When I drive I find people from 5 - 85 love the car and want to talk about and admire it. I am amazed of how much attention it gets. The bottom line is that I have always loved vettes. I have owned two. Bought the first one when I was 40 because it became financially comfortable. I am 41.5 now and feel it is the ultimate sports car.
Bonus!!! It is a Chevy and it is American.

i think the major thing is young people don't have the money for it. then again these little 4cyl with loud pipes aren't fast they're just annoying. Since the Camaro got cancelled i can't comprehend car buyers.

I've recieved nice complements on every Corvette owned from all ages!
Just yesterday a group of teenagers snaped some pictures of my VR C6 with their camera phones!
Wait a second...you know it was not that long ago that having a two way radio in your auto was thought to be rather "Dorky".... Now almost everyone has a "Wakie-Talkie".....er.. I mean Cell Phone.
