Default Indy 500 C6 Pace Car pics

Here are a couple of the pictures I took from my seat at the 2005 Indy 500 of the Pace Car
The Pace Car with Colin Powell at the wheel

Another shot of the car later in the day, staged ready to go back on track when needed.

Here are a couple shots of the race. I'll just add links to those here (since they are not C6 related)

AND the C6R which was on display all week.

The Indy placard aft of the forward wheel well looks good. Better than where they place the Z06 placards. Nice pics! Silver stripe looks tight too! KC

Thinking about the chills I get when I watch the Indy 500 field hit the fourth turn to take the green flag at the beginning of the race.....I can't even imagine what it would feel like to be leading them in a Corvette!!

Know what you mean, I was thinking the same thing when Colin Powell pulled out of the way and let those 33 cars scream by. He had the car up to about 130 and had to sustain that for at least 2 laps before pulling aside. It was awesome, it had to be one of his life's biggest thrills.

He was in a nice way telling Mr Powell to "hurry up and get out of the car."
That guys was the Pace Car driver for the rest of the day.

Colin Powell only paces the field to start the race, then once they are off and running they quick swap drivers. That change needs to be quick in case the Pace Car is needed back on the track during lap 1, which it frequently is at the Indy 500.

That shot was taken at the end of pit row just as turn one starts with the field of 33 cars blowing by at 200 mph to start lap 1.
