Anyone know if there is still a constraint on Z51? My car was ordered April 28th and has not been built yet. Wanted to add Z51 and my dealer said I still could. Also told me there is no constraint on Z51 right now, but that constraints change practically overnight. I dont want to cause any delays in production, i want my car already!!

If you can still add it, then that means your order has not been accepted yet. He won't know until the Thursday he gets an allocation whether or not it is for one with the Z51

According to my dealer the order was accepted, but since it is not in production yet he could still make changes...so is he B.S.'in me? I just dont want to be waiting for too much longer. Im in danger of losing my job if I dont stop daydreaming!

The best thing to do at this point is to check this forum tommorow or Friday for Ken Fichtner's weekly update. Look for a thread titled "Corvette Production Weekly Constraints – 06/10/05". In it, Ken will let us know whether or not Z51 is on constraint for orders picked up during the week beginning tomorrow and ending next week Tuesday. Over the past several weeks, Z51 has flip-flopped between on and off constraint. When on constraint, production has been limited to 300+ weekly units.

I think the more serious issue for you is to determine whether or not your current order status is such that you can make any changes without risking production delays. Your dealer should be to tell you your order status. If you're still at 1100 (order not yet accepted by G.M.), you can make all the changes you want without risking delay. I'm not 100% sure, but I think 2500 ("order sent to production - preferenced") is the cut-off point for making changes. Once it hits that level, any requests for changes, if even accepted, will push it back.

Bottom line: If your dealer tells you that you can still make changes without adding delay, it's unlikely that adding Z51 in itself will cause delay. Go for it.

FYI - I ordered my C6 on April 29th and it was completed last Friday. It has the Z51 suspension.
