Disable Seat Belt Chime?
Does anyone know the sequence to disable the seat belt warning chime? My other car had instructions in the owners manual; I cannot find the sequence in my C6 manual. Help! Thanks...

"Dude"? At a drive-in movie the other night with the engine running for a/c, (or for heat in winter), I really don't want to listen to the seat belt chime.
Thanks for your sarcastic and unproductive assuming replies.

Drive-In movie...? Wow! Haven't been to one of those in 35 years, in fact, I didn't know that any still existed. I thought they'd all gone the way of the pay phone... Man, that brings back some great memories! Can't say that I ever paid that much attention to the movie though! :o

Please consider how un-helpful this kind of comment is. If you don't have a real answer or advise, maybe just go to the next thread?????

In my ex girlfriends focus, you could disable it by:
buckle and unbuckle the belt 3 times, turn the headlights on, then off. then the belt light would flash on the dash 3 times. Then you buckle and unbuckle the belt 1 more time within 5 seconds.
Oh and you have to do the whole thing in less than 60 seconds. It was the craziest thing I think anyone has ever designed.
I wish I could help on the C6, but I don't know.

Lighten up. A little humor is fine, and he did not indicate in his original post WHY he wanted to disable it. Sorry, but IMHO, if you don't wear the belt when driving, you shouldn't be on the road. Plus, it's illegal in most states. So I think my advice was right on the money.

I've got a copy of the owner's manual on my hard drive and I have done a search for both "seat belt" and "safety belt." Actually, "seat belt" only oocurs once in the manual. But for the 30-40 occurrences of "safety belt", I could not find anything that tells you how to silence the reminder chime.
My C6 will only ding the chime about 5 times, but it will leave the light illuminated on the dash. This is a special case where the vehicle was never put in motion.
EDIT: Here's the section of the manual that makes me think my car is working like the manual says.
Safety Belt Reminder Light
When the ignition is turned on, a chime will be provided
for several seconds to remind people to buckle their
safety belts. The driver safety belt light will also be
provided and stay on for several seconds, then it will flash
for several more.
Makes me think it should only stay on for a few seconds. Of course, it might be annoying if you have to do it several times while at the drive-in (or wherever).

Whenever I went to the drive-in (long ago) I also had a car with a bench seat. :o

So far, I like the suggestion about buckling the seatbelt with the belt behind the seatback: then you don't have to sit with the belt riding up your back as you move around in the seat.
Another suggestion, couldn't you just buy an extra latch (male end I mean) through GM and stick that in the receptacle? Of course, with any solution like this you have to be careful that you remember to relatch the seatbelt properly before you drive off. Any of these solutions are just inviting people to drive off and forget to put the seatbelt back on properly without realizing it.
FWIW, mine doesn't beep if I'm sitting still. It only dings if I'm moving. The light is another story.

Why post a stupid response to a serious question!
