Default Steep Driveway - front, rear, bottom, clearance info needed

anyone know the front and back angle and the bottom clearance - been looking for a while and can't find it - not sure if this was really a tech question so i posted it here...

i don't think a C6 will get down my driveway - i guess i have a couple of months (maybe more - ordered a Z51) to figure out what to do - any idea's?

the blazer xtreme is stock height in the front and 1.75 lower in the back (to level it off)

Looks like you have enough room to pull in at an angle.

My only suggestion/idea is check it out with a C6 test drive, if possible - that's what I did to check driveway clearance and garage fit. Good luck.

I think you have an interesting problem. You have 5.5" of clearance in the center of the car. The front lip has a 4" clearance and starts 14" forward of the front wheel center.

I am pretty sure you will catch the front lip but that is designed to be flexible and rub. You may be better backing in where you have more clearance then head first.

What may be more interesting is if you'll rub in the center of the car.

Can you dig out the drive to create a more gradual slope from the curb to the garage?

My drive is not as steep as yours, and the front dam rubs as I cross a curb and when entering or exiting the garage. My car has not been lowered. The steep break of your drive as it makes the downward angle looks like it will hit something under the car. Just my opinion.

well. i thought about it, and here is my suggestion. i saw on Top Gear, the douches had pulled a bunch of ferraris into a parking garage that had an exit ramp with a grade almost as steep as the one you're dealing with. the solved the issue by using some ramps and shims in the elbow of the grade to smooth it out "just enough". you could probably jerry-rig something to help shoe-horn you in and out. with a little creativity and ingenuity, you can probably get this sorted out with a few blocks of cut wood. good luck dood!

edit: still working on the issue of getting high centered and scraping your frame. maybe some frame rail guards would help. i will noodle it out and try to think of something for you.

Your dirveway is very similar to mine... rocker panels bottoming out is my problem if I don't angle it right. I also found out that the car cannot be backed in to the driveway under any circumstance.
Before I bought, I brought one home on a test drive to check it out first.
Hope this helps.

The three angles you're looking for are 1) approach angle, 2) breakover angle, and 3) departure angle.

The first one you have to tackle just to park in your driveway is the breakover angle.

The Blazer has a wheelbase of 100.5" and a minimum ground clearance of 8.1". Since you lowered the rear 1.75" to level it off, we can probably assume the minimum ground clearance is in the front, and unaffected by your lowering springs. You'll want to confirm this visually. If my math is correct, this would give the Blazer a breakover angle of 9.2°.

The Corvette ground clearance is 5.0", 38% less than the Blazer, and the wheelbase is 105.7", 5% greater than the Blazer. Both of these numbers are headed the wrong direction for breakover angle. The Corvette therefore has a breakover angle of 5.4°.

Since the Corvette's breakover angle is so much less than that of the Blazer, I would probably not move forward using numbers. Instead, I would buddy up to a current owner in your area and buy them a 6-pack if they'll bring their car over to test your driveway. Just make sure you drink the beer after you've finished the tests.

thanks for all the info... got some 2x4's laying around and going to make a template of the wheelbase, ground clearance and front lip numbers and see how bad it will wreck the bottom of the C6....

this is a super place and glad i joined before i ordered my coupe
will post pics on how i get it down (or not) the driveway when...

i guess i could always install air bags - lift it up like a 4x4
i could add "4x4" to the Magnetic Selective Ride Control
"Tour" "Sport" "4x4" would be super cool!!!

not to many C6's on the road here - not even at the dealerships - limited allocations i guess
